Rogers' House, Back Porch
Bucky's POV

"I'm sorry for not telling you about his passing." Steve admits to the girl

"Thank you."

She holds the urn a little closer, glancing at me and Steve before closing her eyes and letting out a relaxed breath.

"Me with almost all of my dads." Sarah chuckles

Steve looks at Sarah, I assume his shock is from the fact that she's mourning the closest she had to a father after she was born yet she's made something positive from the situation.

"You've always had such a large amount of hope in people, it could be ruled as innocence, but I know you're no one new to loss." Sarah points out as she folds her clothes that were provided to us

"So do you."

"Where do you think I got it from?" she smirks with a point

"Steve."

"He was the broken one, his hope in people broke the second he saw a man peek under a woman's skirt when he was little." Sarah nods

I mindlessly kirk my head to the side

"You were the innocent one, you always thought the best of people until they told you not to." she adds

"Not anymore."

I swear she's a reincarnation of her grandma sometimes.

"If Steve were alive, and we were on his side in a fight..you would befriend whoever's also on his side, no matter if they're actually a good person or not." she mentions

"Maybe i'm not as broken as I thought I was." I admit with a small but sad smile

"Being broken has nothing to do with thinking out the amount, you're just a good person." Sarah smiles sadly as she walks up to me

"Because I have you to guide me." I give her a genuine smile

"It's an honor to be one of them." I nod to her with a smile as I turn a little to my left and set my chin on her head

"You always have been..love doesn't have to come from genetics." Sarah expresses to me

Steve smiles sadly over at us, the look of being left out covering his once genuinely smiling face.

"I could never forget about you." Sarah mentions as she reaches for his hand

He grabs it with a nod

"It's an honor to be your father." he expresses as if it's code for words he has yet to tell Sarah

"Everyone in the world wishes they were your daughter, but they're lucky they'll never be me." Sarah responds as she squeezes his hand

"I'll take it." Steve nods dutifully

She nods back, though I feel her jaw move up against me as if she's smiling a little.
