My dearest Summer,

My dearest Summer,

Your father and I loved each other very much. He was my anchor that kept me afloat and the light that guided me in the darkness. But love wasn't enough to keep our marriage going when we were constantly being pushed into different paths.

We were young and in love, and our relationship moved fast. But I regret nothing. Your father showed me a completely different life from what I was used to. It was filled with beauty and wonder. It was a life without secrets, a life in peace.

But the double life I lived and the secrets I carried ruined him. It pained me to watch the light in his eyes fade. He calls himself a coward for choosing to divorce me. But he wasn't. To me, he was brave. He held on for as long as he could until there was nothing left in his soul.

It killed your father to walk away from you.

My dear, it takes courage to stay and fight for something, but a great deal more to walk away and leave things behind.

I'm sorry for keeping this from you. I'm sorry for lying to you. I hope you'll give your father the chance to explain himself. He loves you very much.

Mom.
