Let's go our separate ways

Part 64

Flos waits until Scale comes back late at night to retell everything to her love interest. The day was spent in hiding from the King. Speaking of which, Flos did not meet the Duke and Duchess, but that's fine. Not a problem.

After hearing everything from Flos, Scale falls into deep thought.

1st, "I apologise for not telling you about His Majesty's plan for me," Scale apologises for keeping the matter of King Ray wanting him to be the successor hidden. Additionally, "If King Ray really adopts you to be his Sister, as a Princess, then our relationship... It might not happen easily,"

"Ah," Flos didn't think of that, she just thought King Ray has bad taste that is dangerous for her. Nevertheless, now that she knows, Flos also frowns unhappily, "It's already bad enough that he has been keeping you busy for so long,"

Scale feels bad about keeping Flos waiting, so he holds Flos hand as he apologises again, "I'm sorry. Even this invitation to visit the seaside town is not an invitation for the date I promised..."

"I can wait for the date," Flos assures him, "I just think he overworks you,"

"I can take that much," Scale reassures his love interest, "Besides, King Ray is doing his job. I'm busy because of the additional work caused by myself, actually," it's because his ideas and project proposals are approved by King Ray now that they have the budget which makes him doubly busy

Sitting side by side on the couch in the lounge of Scale's mansion, Scale is holding Flos's hand that is resting on the couch between them. At 1st, they talk whilst looking at each other, without touching each other. When Scale holds Flos's hand to comfort his love interest, both of them unanimously turn away from each other to lean their heads together; whilst continuing the conversation.

"Will you still wait for me?" Scale murmurs as he taps a finger on Flos's hand that he is holding

To be honest, there's really no need for them to wait to confirm the relationship, is there? Yet, Scale chose to delay and Flos agreed to it. This is all Scale's fault not, isn't it? To ask Flos to wait for him, who doesn't know when he will get the time to fulfil his promise, Scale feels uncomfortable with the thought of Flos getting fed up with him.

"Sure," noticing how Scale's mood seems to drop, yet does not know the reason, Flos just responds simply to his question, "Surprisingly, I don't mind the waiting,"

"Really?" Scale asks, grasping Flos's hand and raising their linked hands up to inspect

Flos moves her body slightly, so it won't be awkward for Scale to raise her hand to examine. Knowing that he makes Flos uncomfortable, Scale immediately drops their hands gently and turns to look at Flos with an apology on his lips. The apology is on his lips, because Scale hasn't had the time to utter it before Flos's finger lands on his lips to silence him.

"I have said it a lot of times," Flos mutes Scale to hear her clearly, "I don't mind waiting. I might grumble about it, but I really don't mind the wait,"

Scale has stiffened from the moment Flos touched his lips. As for whether he listens to Flos's assurance, it will only be known in the future. For now, though, his mind is pure blank.

Seeing Scale's state, Flos withdraws her finger from his lips to wave that hand in front of her love interest. What? Why did Scale get stiff just from a light touch? Pondering about it, Flos asks her love interest, "You are not used to people touching you intimately?"

Visibly leaning his upper body away from Flos, Scale clears his throat as he responds, "I don't think that's... I mean: that's not- not considered, an intimate move," faltering in his speech, wavering in his gaze, Scale is not being convincing right now
