It was 10 a.m. The sun was shining brightly lighting up the sky and some parts of the Earth. And Derek Hale was laying on his bed on his stomach reading and re-reading the (love) letter that arrived from New York yesterday evening. He has read the letter a thousand times now. And the beautiful smile that lit his face hasn't disappeared since.
At first he couldn't believe the building security that he had received a letter from New York. But the security told him that the letter was of a personal nature and not business. And then, realization hit Derek and he understood where the letter had come from.
He has read every single word with utmost attention. He even visualised Amarra's facial expression when she wrote the P.S. part.
'She is adorable and a little crazy' Derek thought smiling to himself.
He went through the movie list twice and realized that he has watched 14 movies, that too all of them being chick flicks. 'Amarra would be furious if she knew' he laughed at her thought.
Derek wondered what she was doing at this time. It was Christmas morning. She had texted him a simple "Merry Christmas Derek" at 8 a.m. He had a feeling that she texted him right after she woke up. Derek was happy to know that there was someone in this big world who cared about him, even loved him. Apart from his family, ofcourse.
Speaking of which, the doorbell rang several times bringing Derek out of Amarra's reverie. He pushed himself out of the bed, confused. He wasn't expecting anyone today. He hid the letter under his pillow after folding it carefully and left to open the door.
"Surpriseeeeee !!!!!!!"
Screamed two girls as soon as Derek opened the door. As he watched them, his face was painted in shock, irritation but also in a tinge of happiness.
"Laura, Cora. What are you doing here??"
The girls smiled at him, "It's Christmas Derek. You didn't think we would leave you alone on Christmas, did you??" Laura said as she hugged her little brother warmly.
"Merry Christmas Derek. I've missed you." Cora hugged him as the longing for family washed over Derek and he finally understood why Amarra wanted him to go home that night. He missed his family so much.
"Come inside. How have you been?? It's been over a year I guess." He said letting them in.
"Yes it has." Laura said pausing to take in the house. She looked impressed at the neat and clean living room because Derek's room has always been a mess back home. "This house is so organised. Who are you and what have you done to my little brother??" She asked amused.
"Well, your brother has changed." Derek smiled as they all sat down on the sofa.
"Peter didn't come??" He asked.
"He and Evelyn will join us by evening. Alex too. I called him. Hope that's okay." Cora said and she wasn't sure of Derek's temper about Alex but she was surprised when Derek nodded in agreement.
"Who's Evelyn?? I thought he was dating Shannon the baker." Derek asked laughing.
"Shannon is old news. Evelyn is his new conquest." Cora said typing on her phone.
"Wow. Hasn't he slept with all the women of Beacon Hills by now?? How old is he??" He said.
"No and he's 34 I guess." Laura replied drinking some water.
"He is never gonna settle down with just one woman. Mark my words." Derek said shaking his head in amusement.
The three siblings sat and talked a lot of stuff about their lives, love lives, work, their hometown, future plans, marriage plans, career and friends. It was just like old times. Although, Derek doesn't talk to his family and friends much now, but he misses them and their sacred bond a lot.
