he didn't have the best upbringing, to say the least, and the thought of letting down his own child is simply terrifying.
that was until you came into his life and made it so much brighter.
over the years, you taught him how to love himself and helped him realize that his past and flaws don't define the person he is.
you changed him for the better.
so when you brought up the idea of trying for a baby, marc was ecstatic, very much thrilled.
he loves you so much and would love to start a family with you.
you tell him the most amazing news on a warm, sunny afternoon.
marc had noticed how nervous you've been throughout the day, but you'd reassure him that it's nothing and you're just happy to spend time with him, that's all.
the moment it happened, the two of you were taking a leisurely stroll at your favorite park.
the same park where marc promised to love and cherish you for the rest of his life with a diamond ring that sparkles just like his eyes.
you nearly blurted out the truth when you passed by a field and saw a group of children having tee-ball practice.
"imagine our kid playing baseball one day?" you tell him, catching the small smile perking at his lips. "i could see you playing catch with them in our backyard, teaching them how to bat. take them to live games every season or watch together in front of the tv."
"i'll have them rooting for the cubs as soon as they're able to talk," marc laughs, pressing a kiss to your temple.
you stare at him for a few stolen seconds, smiling wildly at the future that would soon come to be.
biting your tongue, you head your way to the gazebo beside a lily pond- the exact spot marc had once knelt down and proposed.
"it's beautiful being back here... got lots of good memories attached to this place," he sighs sweetly, and you nuzzle your head on the crook of his neck, reminiscing.
"well, how about adding one more?"
marc glances at you curiously as you quickly go through your purse, then pull out a pregnancy test.
positive.
he nearly drops to his knees.
"wha- are you sure? are we really-"
he's at a loss for words at the sight of the tiny + symbol in his hands.
the smile on his face grows wider and wider as the announcement settles in.
"you're going to be a dad, marc. it's finally happening!"
without missing a beat, marc's lips are on yours, pouring out every ounce of excitement and love he has.
this completes him. makes him whole. his heart is full, knowing that the family he's always yearned to have is finally here, and everything feels perfectly right with the world.

when it comes to jake, that man wants to have a baby with you more than anything else.
oh, how he dreams of having a mini him and/or a mini you. he'd often say that a child of yours would be the most beautiful and most badass. and that he's sure of it.
it's almost impossible to keep the fact that you're expecting a secret from jake while figuring out a way to surprise him with the news.
two weeks have passed since your period was due to start, and he's already asking if you feel any different. he doesn't pressure you to take a test, but you can tell how antsy he is as the days go by.
when it finally came time to execute your plan, it turned out to be the most perfect moment ever.
jake had just returned from a jog around the neighborhood and found you waiting for him back at the house.
"hi, mi vida. you're looking as lovely as always," he greets you, his gaze drifting to the gift bag on the coffee table. "what's this?"
"a present," you shrug, giggling. "sit, open it."
jake feels like he knows what this is all about, yet he pretends to seem as if he has no clue.
you watch with a grin as jake reaches into the bag, silently hoping that what's inside is exactly what he thinks it is.
"it's... it's a hat?" he murmurs, attempting to mask the disappointment from his tone when he realizes he's wrong.
"yeah! i thought it was really cute, and you've had that old flat cap for years now, so here!"
he swallows thickly, his tender brown eyes betraying his true emotions.
"thank you, cariño. i-i love this, really. thank you."
a soft exhale leaves your lips. "hey, there's something else in the bag, silly."
jake almost loses it as he rechecks the bag, removing the decorative tissue paper inside to see a second item stashed all the way in the bottom.
shaky hands pull out a much smaller version of the new hat you give him... the size of it fitting for a child.. an infant.
"a... a baby? are we having a baby?" jake asks softly, teary-eyed and clutching the cap to his chest, right next to his heart.
you could only nod once before you're engulfed in his warm embrace.
jake peppers kisses all over your face, his salty tears of joy mixing in with your own.
"i'm going to be a dad," he whispers with the biggest smile on his face. "i'm going to be a dad!"
jake then turns to a standing mirror nearby, no doubt expressing his beaming happiness to marc and steven. "WE'RE GOING TO BE DADS!"
