Kasey and Remmi had been known to be best friends since the moment they officially met at Aphmau's job interview, back in January.

The pair would get along better than peanut butter and jam.

But today was different, Kasey just knew it.

After hearing about what a good time Zane and Nana had had on their canoe ride, Kasey organised for Remmi and himself to do the same.

After a quick breakfast of freshly baked morning doughnuts, he'd led Remmi over to the canoe, blindfolded.

"Surprise!" Kasey said as he pulled off the blindfold from the girl's eyes at the dock.

A mischievous grin rose up from Remmi's cheeks and Kasey jumped down onto the boat with a sudden shake. He held out his hand to help her, Remmi accepted and sat down on the horizontal bench, across from her best friend.

They proceeded with a light conversation about the inlet and idiotic speed boats, as they passed. Kasey stopped rowing, and the canoe glided through the water at a calm river bank.

"How'd you like the ride?" Kasey asked as Remmi trailed her index finger across the wood.

"It's beautiful. I've only seen this bank from the shore, but this... This is beautiful," Remmi answered before glancing up to look at the clouds surpassing the blue sky.

"Wasn't it this shore where we tried the paddleboards, then you pushed me in?" Kasey rhetorically asked, already knowing the answer.

Remmi hesitated. "Yeah, why?" She suspiciously questioned, as she glared at the boy in front of her.

"No reason. Just curious," he replied, placing down the black plastic oars. "Would you like to join me?"

"And do what?"

Kasey grabbed the girl's hand and dragged them both off the boat and into the water.

When they resurfaced, Remmi took in a huge gasp. "You dick!" She exclaimed, swiftly slapping her wet bangs from her face.

"Revenge," Kasey taunted, going under the water and pulling her under the water with him. They swam back up to the breaking point, where they recovered their breath and kept themselves afloat.

The boy glanced back at the girl and a shaky breath escaped his lips. Did he want this?

"Rem?"

The girl caught eye contact with him and smiled, "Yeah?"

Kasey sighed. "I-I... I don't know how long I've wanted to you this, but, I-I r-really, really like you. You have no idea how long I've wanted to kiss you. To hold you, you know? Th-this is really awkward, seeing as you're my best friend and we kind of already live together. A-and I don't want my messed up feelings for you, to interfere with me being your friend. But I-"

Remmi being Remmi cut off his ramble kissing the poor boy, completely catching him off guard. He kissed her back and tried to deepen the kiss, but they found themselves submerged in the salty water.

When he resurfaced, he found Remmi in a fit of laughter. "So, I guess I'm taking that as a yes."

Remmi smiled as she bit her lip, "I guess I like you too. Sure, I may have told you I was shy around people I don't know, but I was kinda fibbing because I was scared to see if you'd reject me if I said otherwise. Of course, I like ya, who wouldn't?"

"Well, I'm going to take this opportunity to ask you something. Remmi, would you like to be my girlfriend?"

The girl smiled, "Um... lemme check my calendar just to see if I'm available." She answered sarcastically, opening up an imaginary notebook from her hands.

"Shut up," Kasey laughed, pulling the girl in toward him, pressing their bodies together, withdrawing the pressure from his chest of the water, as she came in contact with his.

They kissed again, and then Remmi turned back to the wandering canoe.

"Kasey? How are we supposed to get back in the canoe?"

"Right... I-I hadn't thought about that..."
