"Did he tell you that he was going to marry me before you?"

Roop's movements stopped altogether, a feeling of numbness spreading through her whole body.

She was aware that he didn't want the marriage, what she didn't know was that he had someone in his life, whom he was so serious about that he was going to marry her.

"Oops, I thought you knew." Amisha giggled when she recieved no response from Roop.

"Actually Amisha, you're so irrelevant in his life that he didn't feel it important to tell her and about him marrying you? Do I need to remind you how he kicked you out of the building just because of a mere touch? He was that disgusted with you." Mihir leaned forward, freeing his hand from Roop's grip.

"You don't know anything-"

"It's you who doesn't know anything so stop whatever you're trying, Roop bhabi is the one he chose to marry and not you, if you want me to remind your place in his life again, I would gladly do it." He seethed, getting up from the chair as he turned to Roop, "Are you coming?" He asked.

Not waiting for an answer he grabbed her hand, dragging her to the kitchen, out of their earshot.

"Why are you crying, she's the one who should be crying." He scolded her, watching her crying silently.

"It's not..it's not her, I just-" She sniffled, feeling her throat choked up, "I was overwhelmed..no one has ever stood up for me, not even myself." She laughed through her tears, "Thank you." She wiped her tears, not knowing how to feel.

"Don't believe a word those vile women say, they're just trying to hurt you. Wait for bhai hmm? He's the one who should be telling you everything and I'm not going to take his place...please." He grabbed her shoulders, looking into her eyes.

She nodded, "Okay."

"That's like my bhabi, now wait here, I have a surprise for you." He said, starting to walk out of the kitchen.

"But-"

"You're going to love it, just wait." He winked, leaving from there.

Taking a deep breath, Roop stood near the window, wondering why, why these women were so hell-bent on making her feel miserable, if she had it in her hands, she never would've married Amrit, not when she knew how much he didn't want the marriage to happen.

She didn't know how long she was staring out the window when two arms wrapped around her, startling her.

Her whole body froze before her senses alerted her, her first thought was to elbow the person before she noticed the ring on his finger.

The ring she bought with her own money because she wanted it to mean something before her fantasy was ruined by reality.

Feeling somewhat happy that he kept it on, a small smile grazed her lips as she leaned back, wanting to cherish the feeling of being in his arms in case it never happens again.

"Hi," Amrit whispered, sighing in...relief. It was a new feeling for him, to have someone to come home to. It felt weird, good kinda weird.

Roop mentally debated on whether to keep her hand over his or not, sure they talked alot over calls and texts but it was different in person, very different.

Remembering Mihir's words to Amisha a while ago, she decided to stay just like she was, not touching him on her own.

"Hi." She replied, her heartbeats getting quicker by the second, nerves kicking in with the realization of their position.

Turning around, she looked at him, he looked tired. As much as he tried to hide away the fact, his eyes gave it away.

"You said.." She cleared her throat to make her voice clearer, "You said you'll come after a week." She said, stepping back to make some distance but he just wrapped her in his arms again. He liked the feeling of having her close a little too much to let it go so soon.
