"Well..well, if it isn't The great Amrit Mehrotra." Her father said, stopping infront of them, "I see, you kept the charity case." He looked at Roop with disgust.

"I see, you're still my biggest fan." Roop replied, her hand gripping Amrit's shirt tightly.

"You've got a mouth on you now?" He asked, masking his surprise at the response before turning to Amrit, "Did this bitch-"

"Refer to my wife with disrespect again and see how fast you lose your ability to speak." Amrit stepped forward, towering over her father.

"A murderer does not deserve any respect." Her father gritted his teeth, "Oh, did you know about that?" He gasped, faking shock, "I'm ashamed to call myself your father, always remember that."

"You should be, I'd rather be called an orphan instead of having parents like you and I'm so happy that Ruaan bhai left this world before seeing your true colours because he-"

Her father raised his hand to hit her when Amrit gripped it, twisting it tightly.

"Ask him to leave me." He glared at Roop, "Leave me!" He pulled his hand out of Amrit's grip. "Son of a-"

Before he could complete his sentence, Roop threw her ice cream on his face.

"Don't talk to him like that." Roop stood infront of Amrit, "You don't scare me anymore, I-I don't care about your threats, You died for me the day my brother died, I'll file a restraining order against you if you came near us again." She threatened, her hand trembling as she pointed towards him.

Her father looked at her with a smirk, "You're still a weak, worthless piece of shit, you think you got it all by marrying this man? Then let me give you a wakeup call, You don't deserve this, you deserve to cry for the rest of your useless life, you deserve to die a painful death-"

This time Amrit grabbed him by his neck, "Stop. Talking. To. My. Wife. Understood? I wouldn't mind spending time in jail if I get to kill you. I don't know why you came here but try contacting my wife again and see how badly it ends." He warned, "You have no relation to her now, I thought I made that clear the last time we met but let me remind you again, if you ever tried to talk to her in future, you have no idea how many cases I can file against you, you'll be in ruins. Mark my fucking words Mr Madan, I do what I say."

He pushed him away with all his force, turning to her mother who was silent all the time, "You are pathetic." He said, holding Roop's hand and walking away from there.

She stopped as they reached the exit, making him stop too as he was holding his hand.

"Take a deep breath please, calm down." She stood in front of him, keeping a hand over his chest, feeling his high heartbeat as she patted there lightly.

"I'm sorry, I got angry and you had to see that but I'm not sorry for anything I did back there, he deserved it and he deserves much more than that." He looked down, holding her hand.

"I wish I never have to see him again, he's a closed chapter in my life, a chapter I never want to open again." She murmured, hugging him close.

"You won't, it's my promise." He caressed her hair, making another promise to himself, to make her father regret his decisions, to make his life a living hell before he faces his death.

"I love you." She whispered, almost inaudible.

"My life is worthless without you, always remember that." He replied, kissing her forehead as he took her to the car.

He opened the door to the driver's seat, watching Mihir wipe the seat with tissue paper, trying to hide away the melted ice cream.

"I'm sorry, mai car wash karwa dunga, please maaf kardo, pata nahi kaise gir gayi, maine to bas-" He started blabbering as soon as he saw Amrit.
(I'm sorry, I'll take your car to the carwash, please forgive me, I don't know how it fell, I was just-"

"Get out."

"Aise karoge ab?" He asked, trying his best to make puppy eyes.
(Will you do this with me now?)

"I'm driving Mihir, go to the backseat. I'm not leaving you here." He sighed.

"Ohh." Mihir's mouth dropped into an 'o' as he quickly shifted to the backseat from the middle, "Who were those people?" He asked once Amrit and Roop settled in.

"No one." Roop replied before Amrit could.

"Did you finish your ice cream?" He asked her.

"She used it..wisely." Amrit replied when she didn't, "Now shut up and sit back properly."

"Let jaaun?" He asked, proceeding to lie down on the seat.
(should I lie down?)

Fifteen minutes later, Amrit whispered to Roop, "So gaya kya?" Feeling too much silence that too from Mihir.
(Is he asleep?)

"Hmm." She hummed, looking at the sleeping figure in the back while Amrit parked the car on the roadside.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"Nothing, come with me." He said, getting out. He opened the door for her before she could get out, "You know one great thing I've learnt in my 30 years of life?" He asked, closing the door softly to not disturb Mihir's sleep.

"What is that?" She asked, playing with his ring as he held her hand.

"Ki ladki chahe kitne hi gusse me kyun na ho, gol gappe sab theek kar dete hain...toh aapka mood theek karne ke liye or kya kar sakte hain hum?"
(No matter how angry a girl is, Gol Gappas fix everything...So what else can we do to lift your mood?)

"Acha ji?"
(Is that so?)

"Haanji."
(Yes.)

Another hand came forward as they were asking for a plate, "Mai test kar raha tha aap dono ko." Mihir said, looking at them with a side-eye.
(I was testing you both.)

"Test khatam ho gaya phir?" Amrit asked.
(Is it over now?)

Mihir huffed, stuffing a huge golgappa in his mouth, three plates later, he was finally done, moving on to sukhi papdi.

"I'll take you to chandni chowk, wahan ke golgappe mast hote hain." Mihir told Roop as she wiped her hands.
(They have the best golgappas.)

"Ignore him, isko sab kuch mast lagta hai." Amrit said as they walked back to the car.
(Ignore him, he finds everything as best.)

"Ek baat puchu?" Mihir said as Amrit started the car.
(Can I ask you a question?)

"N-" Amrit started to say but Roop kept a hand over his mouth, "Yes?"

"Hypothetically puch raha hoon, agar aap dono merko adopt karlo, to kitni badhiya family banegi humari, nahi?" He asked, eating a plate full of sev puri alone.
(I am asking hypothetically, if both of you adopt me, then what a wonderful family we will make, no?)

"Nahi." Amrit shook his head.

"Maine chachi ko bata dena hai aap bhabi ko kitchen me kiss kar rahe the." He whined.
(I'll tell aunt that you were kissing bhabi in the kitchen.)

"Yeah? I'll tell tai ji that you were kissing her friend's daughter in the garden, Bataun, bol?" Amrit questioned back.

"H-how do you know that?" Mihir stuttered, stopping mid-bite.

"I just happened to see and capture it." He shrugged.

"Cheating karte ho aap." He murmured, shrinking back in the seat as he finished his Sev puri.
(You are cheating.)

"You get what you give."

"Will you really tell her?" Mihir asked.

"Should I not?"

"Please no." He shook his head in fear.

"Then stop making your presence known whenever I'm alone with my wife, turn around and walk away and I'll keep your secret safe with me." Amrit replied.

"That's a little tough but okay." He replied, slumping back in defeat.
