Y/M/N POV:

I'm walking in the pizza aisle, trying to figure out what pizza I want for dinner tonight. My daughter, Y/n, went to the bookshop next door as it's what she always does. Reading, writing, music. Reading, writing, music. Reading... writing... music. I won't lie, at first I was concerned yet she assured me and we now talk about every book she reads.

I've raised a very intelligent daughter.

I turn the cart as I move into the next aisle, bumping into another.

"Oh— Oh, I'm so sorry. My apologises." I apologise, sincerely. Seeing the other mother look over at me,

"Sorry, my cart was in the way." She apologises, she glances away before turning to me. "Have we met before?" She asks me, I shake my head.

"No, I don't think so." I answer, "I'm Y/m/n L/n." I introduce myself, offering my hand.

"Natalie Ortega." She introduces, taking my hand and we shake hands.

"It's so nice to meet you, me and my daughter, we just moved here a couple weeks ago." I inform her, seeing her smile. We continue to talk, smiling and laughing for the next 15 minutes.

Y/n's POV:

I have 3 books that I'm choosing between, one poetry book, one murder mystery, and one romance book. I pull out my phone and calculate how much it is for all 3 books which comes to a total off... 35 dollars. 35 dollars— of course it's a ridiculous amount of money for just three books. I head over to the counter, smiling at my friend that works here, Neve.

"Neve." I greet her, smiling at her. Seeing her look up and sigh in relief, sitting up.

"Y/n, there you are, I've been dying to see you." Neve informs me, making me chuckle softly. I roll up my sleeves and I grab my card, getting it ready.

"Is that so?"

"That is so. I get off in 15, mind waiting around?" She asks me, I wish I could join her but I sadly can't.

"I can't," I answer through a sigh as she scans one book then another then the other, "I gotta help my mom unpack the shopping and I promised her that I'd spend time with her since we haven't had a family night." I explain to her, seeing her shoulders fall in disappointment.

"Ugh," She complains, making me chuckle softly. "all right, all right." She replies, quietly.

"How's the application I sent in, you heard anything?"

"I put in a good word for you, it should be getting responded to by tomorrow." She informs me, I smile widely.

"Thank you, I owe you." I say, suavely. Seeing her chuckle softly before leaning over, both of us staring intently into one another's eyes.

"35 dollars, please." Neve tells me, leaning back. I sigh, dipping my head before sitting up and as Neve gets the card machine ready, I pull my card out and scan my card then put it back on the back of my phone. I put the case back on and look at Neve.

"I promise, I will stop by tomorrow."

"You better."

"I will, when have I ever broke a promise?" I ask, taking my books and I hear her laugh.
