Chapter 36

Lo'ak was sat downstairs, after he helped put Aneysa to sleep.

Ronal had fallen asleep too, whilst Kavin was working again.

As he's watching tv, there's a knock at the door.

"Who is here so late?" He whispers to himself.

Lo'ak walks towards the door, looking into the peephole.

He then opens it, "Kiri? Rotxo? What are you doing here?"

"We've come to talk" Kiri says.

"At this time? Does anyone even know you're out. With him?" Lo'ak asks.

"He's my boyfriend" Kiri rolls her eyes and walks past to sit down.

"Boyfriend? Since when? What is happening?" Lo'ak asks.

"As long as you keep your mouth shut about it, I'll explain" Rotxo says as he closes the door behind him.

Lo'ak gives him a slow nod, being completely confused.

"We need to talk. About Neteyam and Aneysa" Rotxo goes to sit down next to Kiri.

Lo'ak follows, sitting on the opposite sofa.

"What is there to talk about?" Lo'ak asks.

"Neteyam. He broke off the engagement with Love" Kiri says.

A couple of hours ago

The Sully's were sat at the table, including Jake as he had returned home.

"Father, I missed you" Tuk says.

"I missed you too my angel" Jake replies.

Before Kiri could make a comment to her father, he looks at her, "I missed you just as much."

Kiri's heart felt at ease, as she had never heard her father treat her that way, without her having to make a comment.

"And Lo'ak, where is he?" Jake asks.

"He stays at Aneysa's house. He looks after her because she's sick" Tuk says.

"She's sick?" He was confused, but also concerned as he looks to Neteyam, "why haven't you gone to check on her?"

Neteyam does not respond, as he does not hear his father.

His mind was completely blank as he was in his own thoughts, playing with his food.

"Neteyam?" He calls out to him again.

"Hm?" Neteyam looks up at Jake.

"Why is Lo'ak looking after Aneysa and not you? You are a doctor, are you not?" Jake asks.

"I don't want to talk about it" Neteyam stood up and excused himself, making his way out into the garden.

"He and Aneysa do not speak anymore" Kiri says.

"I thought they were friends?" Jake looked confused.

After the seizure, his brain functioned a lot slower than usual, and it was hard for him to understand certain things.

"It is a lot to process really" Kiri says.

"I will go check on him" Jake says as he stood up. He walks out, going after Neteyam.

He fine Neteyam sitting down on his own, only to go join him.

"It is quite chilly out here, don't you think?" Jake asks.

"I guess" Neteyam replies.

"You are out here dressed like that, you'll fall ill" Jake says.

Neteyam doesn't respond.
