"I know you're awake."

Shit.

*****************

Your heart was racing as you processed her words, unsure of how you could get out of this situation. Emma had just told Jenna how you felt, and the last thing you wanted was to have to explain those feelings to the brunette girl.

"I can feel your heartbeat y/n," Jenna said softly, your name rolling off her tongue with ease. This was the most she had spoken to you in three months so you definitely weren't sure how to feel. "I know you're awake." She repeated.

"No, I'm not," You muttered quickly. You knew that she obviously wouldn't believe that, but you also knew that if you could stall long enough, Emma would get back. "Dont know what you mean." You added, rolling over and facing the window, your head leaving her shoulder. As soon as your bodies weren't making contact you felt an emptiness, but you didn't have time to dwell on it because she spoke again.

"How much did you hear?" She asked quietly. You opened your eyes and looked out the window, trying your hardest to ignore her. But the more you sat there and thought about what you had heard, the more you felt like you needed an explanation. You turned to look at her, her eyes immediately met yours and you could see that she was nervous.

"I didn't hear much," you admitted, taking a deep breath as you spoke, "mostly just what Emma said..." She seemed to let out a sigh of relief, her shoulders dropping a bit before her jaw clenched.

"Is what Emma said true?" Her question made your heart stop, knowing exactly what she was asking. She was asking if you loved her, and she was not going to let you get out of this one. "Because if it is, I-" You wanted to hear what she had to say, but at the same time you were glad she had been cut off, saving you from this awkward encounter.

"Oh, y/n, how long have you been up?" Emma asked as she walked up, seeing you and Jenna talking but not thinking anything of it. Your eyes darted to her and back to Jenna quickly before you spoke.

"I just woke up," you lied, letting Emma sneak by you and sit back down. "But I think I'm going to go back to sleep, we have a long flight ahead of us." She nodded in understanding before shooting a quick look to Jenna that you barely noticed.

You turned your entire body toward Emma, hearing Jenna exhale in frustration as she didn't get to finish her conversation with you. And at this moment you did want to listen to her, and talk to her, and... be with her. But you couldn't get over the lingering anger and confusion that you had for months.

"Hey, hey, y/n, wake up," Emma whispered as she shook you slightly.

"What's up?" You groaned as you sat up, trying to make sense of your surroundings.

"It's time to get on our other flight." She smiled. In the day's craziness, you had completely forgotten that it wasn't a direct flight and that you had another plane to catch. "Hunter and Georgie grabbed our bags for us so we gotta go."

You stood quickly, not wanting to waste more time and possibly miss your flight. In your half-asleep stupor, you forgot Jenna was still sitting next to you, tripping over her legs a bit. As you studied yourself on the arm of her seat, she looked up at you, her eyes still full of nervousness.

"Sorry," you mumbled, picking yourself up, and hearing her breath hitch as you stood up fully. You squeezed your way past her and made your way off of the plane without another word, spotting Hunter's head and following him to the next gate.

You showed your ticket to the woman at the booth and got on the plane with insane speed, just wanting to go back to sleep and forget anything with Jenna ever occurred. You walked as far back as you could and sat in the window seat, with only one open seat next to you.

You were expecting Emma to sit down, but you were surprised when a different brunette girl sat next to you, her headphones in hand.

"Joy asked Emma to sit with her, so..." She trailed off, blinking rapidly as she looked everywhere but at you.

"Oh, okay." You stuttered, turning away and facing out of the window. It was just starting to get dark out and you knew you still had a six-hour flight ahead of you. The pilot quickly made all of the announcements and you were off, but sadly, you weren't tired anymore.

After only a few minutes Jenna spoke.

"Will you talk to me?" She practically pleaded, her voice sounding weak.

"About what?" You hissed. Again, it's not like you didn't absolutely adore Jenna, but you couldn't just forgive her so quickly.

"Y/n, don't be like that." She whimpered, her feeling seeming genuinely hurt.

"Like what Jenna," you snapped, turning to face her, "rude and distant for no reason? I wonder where I got that idea." You saw the tears prick in her eyes and immediately regretted your words. The last thing you wanted to do was hurt her. "I'm sorry." You whispered, watching as her gaze flicked down to the floor.

"No, no, I deserved that. I should have just told you I loved you, but instead, I decided cutting you off would be best." She said this so quickly that she didn't process the words that had come out of her mouth. And the second she realized what she had said, she looked at you, shock in her eyes.

You could see the instant fear in her eyes as she looked for your reaction. She had just admitted that she loved you, and now she was totally petrified. The problem was, you couldn't form any words, so there was no way you would be able to admit you felt the same. A look of regret washed over her and in that moment you knew what you needed to do.

You leaned forward and without even thinking, pressed your lips to hers, placing your hand on her cheek to pull her closer. She practically melted into you as she accepted the touch, her nervousness being replaced by pure bliss.

"Next time," you whispered, pulling away from her and looking into her deep brown eyes, "just tell me." She smiled at your words, her beautiful dimples showing as her pupils grew. And only then was when you looked behind her and across the aisle to where Emma and Joy were sitting.

Their mouths were both hung open in shock as Emma stared at you, the look on her face saying, 'bitch, you have some explaining to do!'

But you didn't care, all you cared about was the fact that Jenna was finally back in your life, and you were right where you wanted to be.
