The next morning rolled around quickly, and you were woken up by a loud knocking on your door. Practically falling out of bed, realizing you were still wearing the same clothes from the night before. "Y/n! Wake up!" Amber yelled as she threw your door open, ever since last night she had been pretty mad at you, but you assumed it would wear off soon. "I'm leaving so you will be home alone for awhile."

"Oh, okay," you grumbled as you stood, your hair falling in your face as you looked toward your sister. "Where ya headed?" You asked, hoping that being oblivious might make her a little less mad.

"Doesn't matter, just don't burn down the place while I'm gone." She hissed, looking you up and down. "And take a shower." With that she slammed the door, her footsteps fading away as you sat there bewildered. She has been mad at you before, but never this mad.

You just picked yourself up off the floor and looked in the mirror, seeing the remains of last night. You were still wearing your jeans and had all of the makeup from last night still on your face. And it wasn't even because you had drank, you were just so tired and flustered when you got home that you couldn't do anything but sleep.

You then grabbed your towel off of the floor as well as a pair of shorts and a hoodie, slinking into the bathroom that connected to your bedroom and starting the shower. Even though you were sure Amber said it as an insult, she wasn't wrong, you could use a shower.

As soon as you stepped under the warm water you remembered everything from the night before. The feel of her lips on yours, and the way she made you feel. Of course, you wanted nothing more than to kiss her, but some part of you still felt guilty, like you had betrayed your sister in some way.

And it seemed that you had really gotten lost in your thoughts, because before you knew it, the water ran cold. You quickly stepped out of the shower before the cold water was able to give you too much of a shock, and began to re dress yourself. As soon as that was done you brushed your teeth and tied your hair in a quick pony tail.

As soon as you stepped back into your room, something felt off. And that was when you noticed that your door was slightly ajar. You normally wouldn't notice this except for the fact that Amber had slammed it so hard. But before you had the time to freak yourself out too much, a voice spoke.

"Hey pretty," Tara smiled, her voice startling you as you finally saw her. She was sitting on the floor right next to your bed, a huge smile on her face. Your heart began to race and you could barely form a sentence as you tried to calm yourself from the scare.

"How did you get in here?" You asked quietly as you shut the bathroom door behind you and took a few more steps into your room. She stood as soon as you did this, walking toward you with the smallest smirk on her face.

"Amber gave me a key a few months ago." She smiled as she came right up to you. Without hesitating she reached her hand up and tucked a small piece of hair behind your ear, your cheeks going red. "And I wanted to see you."

"Tara," you warned as you took a small step back. You wanted nothing more than to melt into her touch,  up you couldn't do this to your sister. "Seriously, we shouldn't." You saw as she frowned slightly, her eyes glossing over. "I don't want to hurt Amber."

"But y/n," she pleaded, her voice soft as she placed her arm back at her side. "I like you, a lot, wouldn't Amber just want us to be happy." You thought about the brunettes words, your heart pounding in your chest.

On one hand, you would be getting with your sisters best friend, which is the most classic betrayal. But on the other, you were just going after the girl who you liked, who just happened to also be close with your sister. You felt guilty that this was something you could even think about, but Tara's eyes were absolutely mesmerizing.

"Well," you smiled slightly, watching as her eyes relit at the tone of your voice. "What she doesn't know can't hurt her?" As you said this her smirk grew and she took the small step to close the gap between the two of you, pressing her lips to yours softly, your hands falling to her hips.

And even though she lit a fire in your body, you couldn't help but feel the nag of guilt at the bottom of your stomach.

***time skip***

You were sitting in your room finishing up some homework you had from the week when your phone buzzed, drawing your attention away from your paper on Alexander Hamilton.

Tara<3: hey, what are you doing tonight?

You: nothing at all, why??

Tara<3: wanna come over? My mom is gone.

You smiled at her text, your heart beating louder and louder as you typed a response,

You: be there in 10 ;)

You then slipped your phone in your pocket and ran to get your shoes on, yelling down the hall to your sister. "Hey! I'm headed out! I'll be back late!" You didn't get a response but you just assumed she was asleep or didn't hear you. You then ran out to your car, your hands fumbling with the keys as you unlocked it.

Ever since you and Tara kissed in your room, you have met up quite frequently, keeping your situation a secret. You never knew someone could drive you as absolutely crazy as she did, but you weren't complaining about it. The drive to her house wasn't long, but as you turned on her street your heart stopped.

Red and blue flashing lights filled the street, Tara's door hung wide open, police officers everywhere. You immediately swerved your car onto the side of the road and parked it, getting out faster than you thought possible. Just as you approached the yellow police tape, you saw Tara's small figure being wheeled away on a gurney.

"Woah, woah, stop." An officer said as he prevented you from going under the tape. "You can't go in there, it's an active crime scene." You knew that he was right, but you wanted nothing more than to get to her.

"But that's my-" you hesitated, looking as they loaded the girl into the ambulance. He gave you and impatient look so you just gave in. "She's my girlfriend." He whispered quickly to the man next to him before looking back at you.

"Alright, go on in." As soon as his hand lifted up the yellow tape you were off at a sprint, darting through the police cars in your way. Only when you passed by her front door did you see a few pools of blood, your fear growing as you continued on to the ambulance.

"Tara!" You called as you got close, her gaze falling on you, her eyes barely staying open.

"Who are you?" A paramedic asked, turning his body toward you and blocking you from her. You saw as her hand and torso were bandaged, a temporary splint on her leg. And as they loaded her into the ambulance she cried out in pain at the movement.

"Umh- I'm her girlfriend, they let me in here." You stuttered, looking at the girl. You knew it was way too soon to call yourself that, but you didn't care at the moment. In the last week you had learned to care for her more than you thought possible.

"You coming to the hospital with us?" He asked, seeming genuine.

"If that's okay," you said quickly, never taking your eyes off of her as they shut the doors to the back of the ambulance.

"We gotta go, she's in bad shape." He said quickly, ushering you to the front of the ambulance where he had you sit in the passenger seat.

As as they began the grueling drive to the hospital you wondered what happened. The sound of sirens and her screams filling your ears.
