Chapter 57 - Awkward

2 hours later Nandini was still rolling on the bed yet she couldn't sleep. She could see the rain was still heavy outside through the window. She checked the time it was 2:00 am. She thought for a while before getting up. She slowly opened the door and walked in the hall. Her gaze fell on the person sleeping on the couch. She told him to use the bedroom but he didn't yet, he was snoring in the couch. She sighed inwardly and walked towards him. His blanket was lying on the floor. She pulled it up and covered his body. Because of the heavy rain the weather was cooled down outside and it's kind of cold.

She looked at the serene face and felt hurt. He was the first man of her life she ever fell for. She had controlled herself and never get involved with any man until she saw him. She never knew why she was so attracted towards him. She didn't knew him well but she felt like he was the only one for him. She tried hard, to win his heart. When he ignored she felt it like a challenge and wanted to push her luck and test it. She thought she could win no matter what. She thought that her unconditional love would change his heart even if he was unwilling at first. But who could have thought that the heart she was determined to win was too broken.

Nandini was hurt listening to his past and also angry at the girl who betrayed him like that. She could understand that he was hurt, confused and broken. She could take that all. But does that mean he could hurt him like that? Where is the justification of the behaviour he had towards her. He could have been honest with her in the first place. She would have understand his problem. She could have walked away earlier so that she wouldn't be too attached with him. She could ignore him, but what about the heart which still longs for him? She started to live her life again, away from his shadow but why faye have to pull them together again if they were meant to go seperate way? Why?

She wanted to scream loudly. But she couldn't. Starting at him she sighed and turned around before walking towards her room and closing the door. Their encounter was coincidental but whatever happening was not. Nandini shook her head and walked to her bed before trying to get some sleep. And this time, she really did slept soundly.

Next morning when she work up, it was already 7 in the morning. She got up and went to bathroom. Finishing her morning routine she dressed and walked out only to find the emptiness. She looked around but there wasn't a shadow of the person. She could the rain was still there but it wasn't heavy.

May be he left.  She thought in her mind and walked to the kitchen. To get surprise the breakfast was ready and set on the small dining table. Her was were wide as she looked at it. There was a small latter near the meal. She picked it up and read the content.

Hey good morning,

I hope you won't mind me using your kitchen. Don't worry I won't burnt it down. I know few things to cook. I wanted to wake you up but I know you were tired. I have troubled you last night and I am truly sorry. I really didn't meant to give you any trouble. I was too obsessed with my thought that I lost all my sense and always end up troubling you. Anyways, I tried my best to cook food food. I have already had mine and washed the dishes and I have prepared your too. May be by the time you wake up, it will be late. So have your meal and we can see in the office?

She folded the latter and looked at the tray. The food looks good. Glass of juice, bread toast paired with omelette and a cup of coffee. She sighed and thought for a while before sitting down. She helped him so much, it's not good to waste the food anyway. When she walked out of the building she a car was there. She frowned slightly. She was holding an umbrella and stood at the gate looking at the car. The car moved forward and rolled down the window glass revealing Manik's face.

"Why are you still here?" She asked frowning.

Manik forced a smile, "I was going to office but since the rain is still not clear I thought to lick you up" he saw Nandini's expression changed and knew what she was about to say so he quickly added "and please don't refuse. I know you don't want to have anything with me but it's just retiring your favour for taking care of me last night. Just a ride, as a colleague"

Nandini wanted to refuse but hearing him she couldn't anymore. Without a word she closed her umbrella and get into the car. Manik was surprised but happy. He started the car again with a happy mood.

"Don't get used to it because it won't happen again" Nandini warned and he just smiled.

"I know"

The car pulled away from the door and drove on the street. The rain was still pouring lightly. When the car stopped infront of the office building it caught lots of attention specially those who were near the window. They looked curiously to see who it was. When Nandini get down they gasped. They never thought it would be her getting down the car after what happened in the party.

"Thanks" Nandini uttered before grabbing her bag and walking towards the office building. Just as she stepped in her department everyone turned to look at her.

"What?" Nandini asked with confusion.

"Is everything solved between you and the CFO?" Samara was the one who asked this.

"No, why did you say that?" Nandini frowned.

"Well you know today you came with him in the same car so everyone is talking about it. They are likely to be pairing you with the CFO" Samara shrugged.

"They don't have anything to gossip so they found it as a topic" Nandini said and sat on her chair starting her PC.

"Well, whatever happened lastin the party, after that you have been capturing the office hot gossip list"

Nandini groaned in annoyance "what happened to everyone? Are they that free to gossip around with such useless matter?"

"It wasn't useless for them so yeah they are curious about it. Samara replied again.

"I don't want to talk about it" Nandini shook her head. "You also need to concentrate on your work"

Samara laughed "well, things are getting interesting here" she threw a teasing look while Nandini glared at her. What's happening in the office? Why they are after her like this? She was angry and opened the file harshly.

Later during lunch time Nandini was walking towards the canteen alone when her gaze fell on the two people  talking at the corner. She frowned at the figure and walked closer only to see it was Manik with another woman. They was talking and laughing and seemed they didn't released her presence. Nandini frowned slightly before turning around and walking away.

Manik who was talking saw her and his eyes widened. He turned to the girl beside her "Ms. Sharma I will send you the file after the lunch. I have to go now"

"Thank you CFO, I would wait for it to complete the work" the girl nodded. Manik gave a nod before running after Nandini.

"Nandini wait" he called out anxiously.

Nandini turned to look at him "why are you after me?" She frowned deeply.

"Look, what you saw it was nothing. Don't mistake it" he shook his head and panted hard. God, he ran so fast to catch her.

"I didn't ask for your explanation. Keep it for those who needed it from you" she replied and turned around to leave.

"I know but I just don't want you to miss understand me. This time I want thing to be clear between us without any shadows lurking over" he said sincerely.

Nandini wanted to retort his word bit when she tried to find the good words to use, she couldn't find any.

"I don't have time to listen to you" Nandini said coldly before walking away from him. Manik stood there rubbing the back of his head.

"Fuck that was awkward" Manik uttered to himself.
