Uncomfortable Company

"It's been so long since we've spent time like this. I miss our weekend girls time." Lisa said putting the large bowl of popcorn on the coffee table. "Yeah, I missed you too ma." Rain agreed as she took a big handful of the popcorn and stuffed it in her mouth. Lisa bent down and kissed Rains forehead before setting the two glasses of half lemonade half ice tea on the coffee table. She grabbed the remote and made herself comfortable next to Rain on the couch. Lisa pressed play on the movie "Waiting to Exhale" and relaxed into the cushions.
AB was with Khali and Bryson had things to do today, so Rain decided to call Lisa. They had gone to get pedicures, manicures, a massage, and then they ate at the cheesecake factory. It reminded her of weekends with Dutchess. Her heart had been heavy all day thinking about how her babygirl was taken away at such a young age. Although Adonis was very complicated and hard to deal with, but she hated that his life ended the way it had as well. Being around Lisa always caused a feeling of sorrow, but she tried because she knew AB was the closest thing she had to her son. Tregan pulled out her phone and sent Khali a text.

Me: Hey sis, just checking in my baby boy.

She hated being away from AB for too long, but she allowed him to spend time with other family members to avoid having to deal with separation anxiety a lot of children tend to experience at a young age. She smiled when Khali texted right back.

Khali 🥰: He's fine sweetie.

Me: Awesome sauce. He's not being fussy, I hope.

Khali: Girl no, my nefew loves me. You enjoy yourself and stop worrying about my baby 😝.

"So, how's he doing?" Lisa asked Rain as she put her phone on the coffee table. "Huh?" Rain asked. "How is my grandson?" She clarified causing Teegan to laugh. "How you know I was texting about my baby?" Lisa smacked her teeth and waved her hand in Rains direction. "I know you little girl." She grabbed another handful of popcorn and sat back to watch the movie. She took off her shoes and crossed her legs (criss cross applesauce🤣) and got comfortable. Her, Lisa and Dutchess used to watch the movie so much they knew it word for word. Adonis rarely spent the weekends with them, and when he did he would never watch the movie with them. It irritated him that they always said the lines, and were "too loud to be watching a movie" He always told them. They each would pick a character and say her lines. The doorbell rang knocking Teegan out of her thoughts. She looked to Lisa whose eyebrows were knit together. Apparently she wasn't expecting company. "You want me to get it ma?" Rain asked, but she was already so close to the door all she had to do was reach out and pull the knob. "Go ahead baby, but you bet not open it till you know who it is." She scolded, knowing that if hadn't stopped her she would've open the door wide without knowing who was on the opposite end. Rain chuckled and nodded her head "Yes ma'am." Letting go of the doorknob "Who is it?" She asked, curiosity was eating at her, because Lisa was a very private person and she rarely ever had unexpected guests. "It's Brianna, is Lisa home?" Teegan eyebrows knit together and her mouth formed a deep frown. "Brianna" She turned to Lisa and mouthed the name. Lisa eyes got big and stuck her finger up as if to say hold on while getting off the couch. "I got it baby, can you go in the kitchen and check that meat I put in the oven?" Rains eyebrows creased. "Ssuurreee." She dragged the word out cause she knew they had just came from eating and she didn't see Lisa cooking anything or smell anything. However she made her way into the kitchen out of respect. Lisa obviously wanted privacy, which peaked her curiosity more. She heard them speaking in hushed tones and decided to busy her hands so she wouldn't be tempted to be nosy. She washed her hands and pulled out the ingredients for the dessert she made that Lisa always requested her own. Flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, eggs, 2 cans of pineapples, sugar cinnamon, milk, oil and vanilla extract. She pressed the bake button on the stove and entered 350 then pressed start. Going to the cabinet, Rain pulled out a large mixing bowl measuring cups and a large plastic spoon. She mixed the ingredients, and got a bundt pan out the cabinet rinsed it out and dried it. She then got another bowl and mixed butter and brown sugar together until she was happy with the consistency. She sprayed the bundt pan with oil spray and lined the pineapples at the bottom and topped it with the brown sugar mixture before adding the cake batter. By the time she was putting the cake in the oven Lisa came into the kitchen. "Hey girly, what you doing in here?" Rain turned to her with a smile "Making you an upside down pineapple cake!" Lisa rushed over to her and pulled her into a tight hug. "Girly you just don't know how much I wanted one, but I didn't wanna bother you." Rain laughed and returned the hug. "It's no bother ma." Her eyes trailed over to the woman standing in the doorway watching their embrace and she pulled back. "Hello, I'm Rain." Lisa covered her mouth "Lord where are my manners. Rain this is Brianna." Bri just nodded her head and puckered her lips. "Well as you can see im pregnant with Adonis baby, so we have some things we need to discuss." She said getting right down to business. She didn't wanna stand there and act all honey dorey, when she wasn't fond of the chick. "Is that right." Rain said turning to wash her hands in the sink and wiping them on a paper towel. "Well maybe we should take this innthe living room so my cake doesn't fall." She said throwing the paper towel in the garbage and walked towards Brianna. When Brianna didn't move out of the doorway she stared up at her "Excuse me" with attitude lacing her words. Brianna turned and walked to the livingroom and sat on the recliner. Rubbing her small, round baby bump. "So obviously I've been the topic of discussion, so clue me in. What do we possibly have to talk about regarding your child your "so called" carrying from Adonis." She asked making herself comfortable on the couch. She stared Bri in the eyes and raised one eyebrow. "First off, ain't no need for all that attitude and this baby is Adonis, so all those air quotes were unnecessary. While you were acting like a spoiled ass bitch brat, me Adonis were starting a family and planning to get married." She stated in a matter of fact way. "And the fact that....." Rain opened her mouth to say something, but Lisa interrupted instead "Uh we won't be doing any of that Brianna. I said it was OK to talk if Rain was up to it, but I will not stand here and allow you to disrespect my daughter in my house. So you can either change that attitude and we can handle this like rational adults or you can go and I'll see you on your due date." Lisa nerves were rattled by Brianna so she couldn't sit down. She was getting ready to take the popcorn in the kitchen and refill her and Rain drink. She was gonna offer Brianna some, but lost track of what she was doing, because she was getting angry. This girl always found a way to rub her the wrong way, she told Adonis the little girl was no good. Now she was stuck having to deal with her because she could be carrying another grandchild. Although she didn't like the mother, there was no way she would allow her blood to be in the world and she not be a part of their lives. Brianna closed her eyes momentarily and took a deep breath as if she was trying to calm herself. "You right, I shouldn't have called her a bitch. She just pissed me off them air quotes trying to say she doesn't believe I'm pregnant by Adonis." She said to Lisa "The fact still remains that our children are siblings and since Adonis can't be here we need to be civil enough to allow them to form a bond." Rain just sat straight faced. When Lisa was satisfied that the two wouldn't start throwing blows she picked up the bowl of popcorn and went to do what she initially came to the coffee table to do. After a long silence Brianna decided to speak up again. " I know the baby not here yet, but when he does get here, I have to know I can trust that she'll be able to be around you with any hurt or harm coming to her." Teegan cocked her head to the side "And what makes you think i would allow or cause any hurt yo come to an innocent child. And furthermore....why do you assume your child would be in my care. First things first you haven't even proven that your carrying Adonis baby, so all this discussing were doing is mute at this point to me. " She smirked and sat back. "Prove? I don't have to prove anything to you. Just cause you was busy fucking and sucking on two different men doesn't mean everybody got hoe tendencies like you do. If Adonis were here this wouldn't even be a question. He would be happy to welcome the new addition to our family." Brianna said pursing her lips and then rubbed her belly with a big smile on her face. Rain ran her hand down her face and chuckled. "Sweetheart you don't know me so don't get shit twisted. If you weren't sitting there with that baby in your stomach, you'd have been got yo ass tore out the frame before you could've even finished the word bitch. For right now Imma let you make, but you won't always be able to hide behind that baby. " Lisa came back into the livingroom with two glasses. "Play nice babygirl." She said raising one eyebrow at Rain and giving her a stern look. "Yes ma'am." Brianna sat foward in her seat and screwfaced both Rain and Lisa "You joking right. You just gave me that speech about me not disrespecting her in your house, but then gone say "play nice" hearing her threaten me, while I'm pregnant with your granddaughter!" She said raising her voice. "Chill out with that..." Rain started to say as she scooted foward on the couch as well. "No. Calm down Rain she's right. But see Brianna, Rain has shown me a level of respect I have yet to see from you. You come over here acting hostile all the time like I've done something to you. However Rain she's like my daughter and knows I don't play so there's really not too much that I need to say to her. You got to give respect to earn it and you started off disrespectful to her, because you got a chip on your shoulder about Adonis." Brianna stood up and walked towards the door "Man this is some straight bullshit! Everybody wanna be team Rain huh? That's cool, buy don't come crying to me when you don't have the ability to see the child I made with Adonis." Lisa started walking towards Brianna "Now you don't have to take it there, I have grandparents rights and I will fight you for what's mine, all I'm saying is you gotta come correct. Don't nobody owe you anything this way, my concern is with my grandchild. Now I'm sorry we couldn't pull our heads together today and come to some understanding. Maybe if you come back another day with a clear and leave the attitude at the door we can work things out." Brianna turned to Rain and screwfaced her again before walking out the door and slamming it shut behind her.

"You lied, ain't no way you don't know what your doing and wiping my ass this bad." Justin complained as he watched the ball roll slowly into the side pocket. "Now, I ain't say all that. I said I haven't played in years and I'm rusty. You heard what you wanted to." Johanna shook her head and chuckled as she stood back and looked at her options. The last two games of pool they played Johanna won, she told him he only won the first game because she was rusty and needed a little practice. "Yeah Ok, we gone see next go round. Imma make you put your money where your mouth at." Just said nodded his head. He held the pool stick with both hands leaning against the wall as he tried to figure out what his next move would be. He had 3 stripped balls and the 8 ball to get in, but Johanna seemed to be in her zone. If she successfully got this one all she had to do was sink the 8 ball and she would be winning another round 3 to 1. "Bet...I'm at my best when I'm under pressure." She chuckled and rubbed the chalk on the tip of her pool stick. "Ok, pressure!" Justin said watching her form. Jojo leaned down on the table with her knuckles balled up and her pointer and middle finger spread, resting the top of the stick in-between her knuckles she moved the pool stick back and forth a few times before finally hitting the ball with one long stroke. It speed across the table and slowed down, stopping just before the hole. "Damn!" She shook her head standing back up. "You ah-right, but watch how a pro works." He boasted. He quickly sunk the two balls in before standing back to take in view if the table. If I win this one, you gotta cook me dinner tonight." He looked at Johanna with a smirk. She smacked her teeth and starred into his eyes before silently agreeing by nodding her head. "Side pocket" He tapped the stick to show which one he was shooting for. He took his time with his shot and stood back watching the ball slowly fall in. "8 ball corner pocket" Johanna stood with a straight face as she watch the ball speed a Ross the table and bounce against the pads before falling in. She was cool and collected on the outside, but inside she was nervous. Her and Justin had been spending a lot of time together lately, because he pushed her to study and get good grades. He always wanted to hang out afterwards and she agreed cause he was nothing like she expected him to be. He was down to earth and cool to hang with, but she knew he wanted more which is why she was nervous when they were alone together. She had dated men in the past, but that wasn't a road she was ready to go down again. "So.....what you cooking tonight, we might have to go grocery shopping first." He smiled showing off his perfect teeth. "What you want?" Johanna asked with a huff. "Aww...is Jojo a sore loser?" He made a pouty face and grabbed her hand. "Mannn....whatever, come on big muscle back ass, hungry ass dude." She replied shrugging away from him. They put the pool sticks and the chalk back on the rack and grabbed the balls putting them in the holder. "Imma cash out, you pull the car around." Johanna said walking to the front." I tried it. I already paid big head ass, sore losing ass." Justin said brushing into to her purposely as he went to get the car.
She heard him before she saw him, he had the music blasting and the base bumping. He pulled up to the curb and she got in leaned back and crossed her arms over her chest. She was low key pouting, because she hated losing. "Pull your lip in little girl don't nobody care about you pouting. You about be frying some catfish and I don't want no stomach from you cooking with bad vibes." He chuckled pulling off to head to the grocery store. Johanna rolled her eyes and put her hands in her lap.
