Bonus Chapter: Miles

Miles POV

I texted Giovanni to tell him Angela was getting ready. I had no idea what I just witnessed but I knew it couldn't be good. The way his hand cupped her cheek was romantic and Angela was too naive to see his intentions. I stepped out into the back yard. Dominic Romano looked at me and I crossed my arms.

"What ?" he asked me with his voice changing to his harsher tone than the one he was using with Angela

"You know what you're doing there?" I asked him and he walked past me into the house. I followed him.

"I don't know what you're talking about but I have to get ready for this Gala tonight." Dominic said

"Angela" I said and he stopped in his steps

"What about her?" He asked annoyed

"You touching her. She's naïve and chooses to see the good in everyone. She can't see what I see." I said

"What are you trying to say Miles?" He asked getting in my face

"I say I see you. Giovanni is the happiest i've seen him since i've met him. Don't ruin that for him." I said and he shook his head walking off

I heard the front door open and Giovanni walked in. "What's wrong with him?" he asked and I followed him into his office closing the door behind me

I didn't want to start a problem when they just started getting close. "Not too sure. You're okay with him and Angela being in the house together?" I asked

"At first I would've said hell no but I think she's rubbing off on him like she is me. He seems to like her. Which makes sense. What's not to like?" Giovanni said

I nodded. "Yeah. Well I told her about the gala and she's excited."

Giovanni smiled a genuine one.
"You really love her huh?" I asked and he nodded

"Yeah I do man." He said and I nodded "Speaking of her. I wanted to ask you something regarding my position. I've been in meetings all day and I wanted you to hear it from me first. I'm stepping down. I can't have her or my future children around this life."

He poured himself and me a drink handing me the glass. I took the glass and watched him. "Wow who would've thought?" I smirked and he shook his head

"I know. But I'm looking for a replacement. I couldn't think of anyone other than you."Giovanni said

"Oh this is why Angela fell in love. I'm flattered" I said and he laughed shaking his head

"Listen asshole. You want the position or not?" Giovanni asked

"Yes. A thousand times yes." I said and he rolled his eyes

"Don't make me regret the decision."He said downing his drink "But seriously. I know you can get the job done. You're the only person I trust in this business. I know you'll make a great leader."

I nodded. "Thanks man" I said "I hope you get everything you want."

"I got it." He said smiling
