“ Paro has been missing for the last three days, Adi”. Abhi's voice made Adi stop on his track.
“ She might be with her family or friends. What's the big deal?” Adi tried to keep his tone normal.
“ That's right. She is with her friend. In Fact, when Bidisha called her she said that she was with Ishita.” Abhi said, looking nowhere but straight to Adi.
“ So?” Adi turned completely to face his brother.
“ Nothing. But that girl is very kind and considerate I must say. I mean I just went to visit Rishabh two days ago at the hospital and his cousin, Ishita, was quite angry with all of us. She had every right to be.
But you know what the funny thing is? She was very angry with Paro too. So isn't it amazing how she was so damn angry with her friend but still let Paro live with her. On top of that, she pretended like she didn't know anything about Paro's whereabouts. Interesting, no?”
Abhi's gaze looked at Adi sharply, his tone was laced with mockery and challenge.
Adi could easily understand where this was going. Clenching his fist twice to control his anger, he set his dark eyes on his brother, as if accepting the challenge.
“ From when did you start getting so nosey about your neighbor, Abhi. I thought you knew better than that. But alas! Do whatever you want to. I have to go.” Adi let out the words in a low, heavy voice, his tone colder than usual.
“ Where is Paro, Adi?” Abhi came straight to the point.
“ Nobody has seen any of you two since your birthday night. Where is she, Adi? What are you up to?” Abhi took a few steps towards Adi, facing him even more closely.
Adi smirked listening to his brother. Abhi was too impatient to beat around the bush.
“ Why do you care?” Adi rubbed his temple with his fingers, questioning him back.
“ Really Adi? I do care because I know for sure that my brother has something to do with this. I FUCKING CARE cause you are not only a random Adi.
You are ADITYA RAJ MALHOTRA, the youngest son of The MALHOTRA family. Do you even realize what this stupid, impulsive act of yours can cost our family?
Tell me what did you do to her, Adi, tell me where she is?”
Abhi bellowed. Not being able to control his temper anymore.
The smirk was wiped off of Adi's face.
“ Oh! Oh! Oh! Brother, relax. Take a deep breath. Calm down.” Adi spoke while holding both of Abhi's shoulders in a tight grip.
“ Aren't you showing a little too much interest in my life lately? How about I show some into yours, hmm? Just think how Bhabi would feel after all these years after knowing how you manipulated her to love you, hmm?” Adi said, sneering.
Abhi was baffled for a moment.
“ What the fuck are you saying? Bidisha and I both love each other. It was a mutual feeling. We married each other with consent.”
Abhi let his words out with clenched teeth, his hands were holding the collar of Adi's shirt a little too tight.
“ But how about before she gave you consent huh? Did Bhabi know why suddenly her calm, composed, gentle, now ex-boyfriend started to ignore her? How could he just turn so harsh to her within a day, when he loved her so much?
And at that very moment how her popular, charming senior came to her rescue, becoming a messiah! How he gave her moral support during her tough time, eventually becoming a hero. Hmm?
I mean I knew that love can suppress our rational mind. But I wonder why a sensible girl like Bidisha never tried to connect the dots and accepted it as a fairy tale!
Do you think that Bhabi would love to have a conversation about that hmm? After all these years! I think she would. I should discuss it with her. What say?” Adi let out a wicked chuckle, seeing his brother's expression.
Good! It wasn't that he was ever interested enough in anyone's business. But it was Abhi who started it first.
And it was necessary to show him that if needed Adi could go to any extent. He won't tolerate anyone questioning his actions, especially when it's about ‘ HER.’ No one should show their concern about her but him.
Abhi's hold on his collar got loose automatically when he heard his brother. He didn't need to be this tense after all these years yet he was. He had maintained a perfect image of himself to Bidisha and he would continue maintaining that at any cost.
She didn't need to know which didn't bother her, definitely not after all these years. And that loser boyfriend of hers was too weak, too pathetic. That disgusting creature never deserved a girl like Bidisha, Abhi did.
“ It's okay Abhi, don't bother yourself.”
Abhi was out of his trance hearing Adi's teasing. But instead of replying he kept looking at him, his displeasure was clear on his face.
“ I’ll be out of your business unless you bother yourself with mine. And let me tell you, Paro is my business. Only mine. Whatever I do to her, with her is solely my business. It shouldn't bother you.” Adi's voice was again back to a serious, cold one, his tone held a clear warning.
“ Bye brother, take care.” Without waiting for a moment, Adi walked out of the room.
