Sometimes life changes for no reason. The interesting thing is whether these changes are good or bad.
Does waking up in an unknown world with many people who develop a crush on you count as a nice thing?
A new Mondstadt Archon Quest is coming soon, whohoo!
Also my first thought when they said that Neuvillette got stabbed was like 'See? You're not only getting attacked in this fic' lol

What are you seeing? Sand on the right. Sand on the left. And... Oh what's that? Right, sand everywhere. You didn't realize it back then, but sleeping through the majority of desert traveling was a true blessing. It is hot, walking on sand is more exhausting than on regular dirt and there is nothing pretty to look at. Some would argue that Aether, who is walking in front of you, is a pretty sight, though you wouldn't classify him as the breathtaking scenery which you're looking for. "...Aether?"
The Traveler stops in his tracks and turns around. "What is it? Do you need a break?"
"Yes, that's probably for the better. Could we sit down for a bit and drink some water? I have the feeling that I will evaporate otherwise..."
Looking around, Aether points at a pair of nearby palm trees. "Sure. Let's sit down over there in the shade."
Absolutely exhausted, you drop down to the ground and lean onto the tree-trunk of one of the palm trees. The more you think about it, the more agonizing do you find this heat. Hopefully Natlan isn't going to be as hot as this...
Aether does the same as you and sits down next to you. He hands you a bottle of water.
Opening it, you immediately drink half of it empty. Never would you have expected that water can taste this good. "This is a lifesaver... How kind it was of Arlecchino to not only smuggle us out of Fontaine, but also provide all of these food supplies. In our previous situation we couldn't have bought any of these ourselves."
Aether nods while starring at his own bottle. "I have to admit that the Knave was surprisingly helpful. Not only that - she also stayed true to her word till the end. Odd for someone of her reputation..."
You glance over at him. "Hm? What do you mean by that?"
"From what I've heard, she is known for her lack of mercy and loyalty."
"I can kinda imagine where the lack of mercy is supposed to come from, but a lack of loyalty? Even if she doesn't openly show it through expressions or words, I am pretty certain that she loves her children more than anything and would protect them till the bitter end.", you explain.
Sighing, Aether closes his bottle and packs it back into his bag. "It's probably better if we never find out... Though I have a strong feeling that we will find out at the latest in Snezhnaya where all of these Fatuis are coming from... Hey, (Y/N)? What do you think about going to a desert island after Natlan? A place far away from all the dangerous humans, gods, dragons and so on that crawl around this land. I would drop you off there and pick you up again once I am done with Snezhnaya."
"Absolutely not. I appreciate the sentiment, but that idea doesn't sound too great. You sound like a overprotective knight locking up the noble they're serving for the sake of keeping them 'safe'."
