Notes:

I apologize for taking this long to update, I've seriously struggled with this chapter and I'm still not happy with it, but it is what it is and I doubt I'll get any better.

Chapter 101 Suddenly I see, you became part of my family

Sin

She walked out of the apartment wondering what she'd been thinking when making that comment about not really having had an actual Christmas since her grandma had died. It just sort of slipped out while she'd been helping Sara put the boxes with Christmas decorations from the upstairs closet to the living room, where Oliver was currently resting on the couch. Sara'd given him permission to not only leave their bedroom from time to time mostly to go to the bathroom, but to exchange their bed for their couch for most of the day, like a day ago. Something the big guy was taking full advantage of. And she couldn't say she blamed him. Just the thought of being couped up in her bed for like a week straight with barely any change in scenery made her shudder. Yeah, she hadn't envied him for that. But she also got Sara's side and why she'd been reluctant to let him move around too much, too soon. Dude was seriously injured, and on top of that had been starved and dehydrated for like a week. So Sar's insistence for him to give his body time to recharge and get some of his strength back through proper nourishment made total sense. Part of her almost believed allowing him to move around, even just a little bit and with assistance less than a week after this ordeal might still be way too soon. Even though he was doing all of the moving around, which really was just walking from one room to another, under his wife's watchful eye and with her help. It had her wonder if it was some sort of compromise between the couple and a way for Sara to ensure Oliver wouldn't get some stupid ideas and try to move around all by himself when she wasn't in the room or asleep. It was something she wouldn't put past him; she'd learned he was stubborn as fuck and really didn't like to have to depend on anyone for anything and hated feeling useless and helpless. Something she could relate to as well. Plus, the blonde knew a lot more about injuries and torture and healthy eating and shit than she did. So, she was sure she knew what she was doing and talking about, even more so after there had been very little resistance from Oliver's side. Which had been surprising. But also proof of just how badly he was doing.

Anyway, he seemed to be doing better now, even if just a little, and she was glad. She'd been seriously worried about him. More so than she'd expected. Sure, she'd known he'd grown on her, like seriously grown on her. She just hadn't realized just how much. It was a bit unsettling. Because it had snuck up on her. So, she'd decided to just push that realization away and act like she'd never had it in the first place. Denial was always a good choice when it came to feelings that were unexpected and overwhelming. A fact she knew both of the vigilantes would agree with.

Which was difficult to do when she found herself just blurting out way too personal shit right in front of him because she felt comfortable enough to do so. Like how she hadn't had an actual Christmas since she'd been like twelve. Which had led to her being very glad that she'd promised one of the food shelters she'd regularly helped out at helping them prepare everything for their Christmas celebration the next day. It gave her an excuse to leave that wasn't even an excuse, and she knew the couple knew she wasn't just making shit up because she'd told them about it a while back when they'd asked her about her Christmas plans. While they'd still been figuring out their own and what their families' expectations might be. And whether or not they should try to fulfill those.

It had been nice to get some distance between her and the two blondes after accidentally spilling too much about her past. Maybe. Sin still wasn't sure whether it had been a mistake or not. She'd known she'd trusted Sara a lot, not that she'd been big on sharing her past with the older woman, but still. She knew she could if she wanted to and that Sara wouldn't judge or pity her and most likely understood. And that was enough. Or it had been for a long time. She'd shared a little more as time went on but there was still a lot she hadn't, just like she knew there was still tons about Sara's past she hadn't shared with her. That wasn't even the point. The point was that she hadn't been aware she trusted Oliver just as much as she did Sara. And she hadn't noticed when that had happened. And that realization threw her. Especially since she wasn't even sure she would've told Thea that fact about her past or felt comfortable enough to do so. And Thea was her best friend, had been for several years now. It was Sara, and then Thea and Abercrombie, and then some of her friends from the streets. Oliver shouldn't even really be on that list. Least of all as high up as he suddenly seemed to be.
