Eros awoke to a sharp kick from none other than Hank, who's sharp foot brought suffering to Eros' side. Eros quickly stood up, looking around for whatever caused the pain; And within a second, he spotted Hank. The two started walking towards Fort Alpine, finding the walk to be exceptionally drab. For whatever reason, Eros couldn't find himself completely awake, despite sleeping a few hours more than normal. Hank wasn't well either, considering he ate a few bad berries that day. Even Dusk was in an unpleasant mood, for ghost reasons and stuff. As a result, both were in a bad mood and kept to themselves for most of the journey, not even bothering to see how many wild Pokemon they could spot, as they did as little children.
Yet, the journey itself was not unexceptional. The first sign of this should have been the clouds, for they acted in a most peculiar behavior. First, there were sudden clouds that blotched out the sun, despite the weather being mostly clear that day. Atop of that, as the clouds approached an invisible line in the sky, they collapsed back into themselves, forming an ever-billowing storm cloud. To say that this was unnoticed would be a lie; However, nobody in the party had the slightest idea as to what this could mean, so they proceeded on as normal.
Unfortunately, the signs didn't get better. Not long after entering the area covered by the clouds, a heavy rainfall started to pour, as lightning bolts fell from the sky with only a few seconds in between, the echoing causing the forest to stay far from silent. The waters from the sky acted as a fog, to the point where nobody could see farther than a few yards. Odd, indeed, but there was little that could be done about it, save being aware of an unspecific kind of danger.
As they started to near even closer to the fort, they noticed that the rainfall had severely damaged the earth, wiping away dirt and exposing a plethora of roots and stone, forming a semi-gravel like surface that they had to traverse. Atop of this, there was a strange glow in the distance, crimson red in hue yet faint through the weather. The thunderbolts were less common here, although they seemed to be many times stronger than before. There was also a strange blue glow every so often, but aside from the cause being a Pokemon, it was still unclear as to what was happening. They could've turned back, yes, but this situation seemed too important to be left unchecked.
They continued forwards, making even more distance. Eventually, as a result of the group closing the distance, it seemed, the glowing blue light stopped. It didn't flash again, for all the boys knew; Yet they kept on pressing forwards. Eventually, the crimson light changed its form into more of a bar, then a wall. As the party closed in even closer, the air became dryer (despite the rain), as well as significantly warmer. And, when they were only a few meters away, they saw the outer wall of Fort Alpine; And, just a few feet away, something that could only be described as a wall of fire made its way up the height of the wall, forming some kind of barrier around it. The only sign as to where the wall came from was a few marks across the wall of the fort, similar to the ones that could be caused by Cut, except much larger and a tad deeper.
Hank turned to Eros and said, "What now?"
"Hm. Maybe we should follow along the wall and look for a hole? I mean, I don't have any idea-" and, as if to interrupt his sentence, a lightning bolt landed right next to Eros, giving off the putrid gas of ozone. "-any ideas right now. Might as well-" Once more, a lightning bolt fell from the sky, landing atop of Dusk. The force of such an attack sent him to the ground, stunned and nearly knocked out by the sheer force. The boys had started to understand that this was a bad place to stay and started to run along the wall of fire, with Eros carrying Dusk on his shoulder.
It wasn't but after a few meters (or yards or whatnot) that the party halted at the sound of what seemed to be hooves trampling on wet soil. The trotting continued for a few seconds, as the party sat still in anticipation of the dreaded foe ahead. Cloaked within rain and pressing on slowly into sight of the boys, none other than Keldeo revealed himself. "I don't have to hurt you."
