Lauren's POVToday is finally the day. The Script are coming to my school! I have been a massive fan since I heard Breakeven on the radio for the first time in 2009. That was almost 6 years ago, but I haven't to see them live. I have wanted to, but never had the chance to. I've either been too young or not had the chance to go because of my parents or because of school. The concerts nearby have been on week days and since I'm still at school I'm being refused to go each time which really sucks, but today it all changes!
''Want me to make you some breakfast? I can turn on the oven and cook something?'' my mom asks me while I run downstairs trying not to drop my phone.
''No mom, there's no need, I don't have time. I start school at 8 and it's already 7:45!''. I put my backpack on the kitchen chair while desperately running towards the hallway to grab my shoes and jacket.
''Well I can make some lunch for you?!'' When does she ever take the hint, I don't have time for this, I'm already late.
''No mom!! I already told you, I don't have time for this. Goodbye!'' I yell as I run to the kitchen and grab my stuff and run out the door while trying to fix my earphones. I can't go to school without my favorite music playing in the background. It really saves me, without a doubt. Without their music I wouldn't be who I am today. It's amazing how music, especially their music can change people and make them happy, just like they did for me.
As I walk, I finally get the earphones fixed. I press shuffle play on my Spotify list called 'favourites'. Breakeven comes on and goosebumps immediately pop up on my arms underneath the white wooly sweater and grey coat. As I walk towards my school with the music playing in my ear I start to drift off. Thinking what I'm gonna do if I'm lucky enough to meet the lads today. What if Danny looks at me during his performance, what will I do?! And oh my God, what happens if he starts talking to me after they have played? Or what if he wants to get to know me, or even better, be my friend? No I can't think of that. I will only get my hopes up cause let's face it. That will never happen to me. I'm only 18 years old, still in high school, last year. Not stunningly beautiful, but not ugly as hell either, somewhere in the middle I guess. If anyone at all ever becomes interested in me I would consider myself lucky. I shake it all off and realize I'm nearly there.
As the song ends I walk up the final hill up to my school. I can feel the butterflies in my stomach getting stronger and stronger with each step I take. I know they are in that building. I don't know what to do or what to say... My friends know I am a fan. I had to tell them. I couldn't just hide my inner fangirl for much longer. Ever since I told them how big fan, it was a few months ago, they have been teasing me every moment they could. Not that I enjoy that at all really, but they don't understand how important they are to me so I don't blame them for the fact that I don't talk about what happens in my life that much. Still, stalking my twitter has become their new hobby, so I blocked them for it. I need a place to just be on my own you know?
While walking towards the main entrance I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. The lads have tweeted!
'@thescript high school gig today, let's do this! BOOM! M. ' I faved it straight away taking a picture of myself standing in front of the school.
'@thescript Im here!! Can't wait to see ye lads! Boom!' I send the tweet with the picture hoping they'll see the tweet and notice that I'm here.
''Are you ready for today?'' My best friend Sophie asks me as I walk towards her into the crowded school hallway. The question is not am I ready, it's why are you asking me this. You know damn well I'm ready for this, I was born ready.
'' Yeah sure, shall we go to the lockers? I need to put my stuff in before we do anything else.'' I say as I lead Sophie towards the stairs sounding as calm and collected as possible. Inside I feel like I can burst at any point. Usually I'm a calm and quiet person. I have always been like this. I have never been much of a talker, I keep everything inside, and expressing my emotions is not my best quality. The reason why must be all the pain. The pain I live in each day is eating me alive and I can't do anything about it for now. I'm still 18. I can't move out yet without my parents approving, which they never, ever will. If they could have it their way I would be living home until I'm at least 25, maybe longer. Anyways, the lads have always been there for me, kinda. Well I haven't met them before or talked to any of them, but their music keeps me going and whenever I'm feeling down it's Mark's guitar playing and Glen's drumbeats accompanied by Danny's angelic voice that gives me hope.
''Come on, we gotta go now, I think we're a bit late!'' Sophie yells at me making me snap out of my thoughts while I push my backpack into the locker.
''Easy now, I'm coming, no need to hurry''. I answered a bit puzzled, but I continued to try and get the backpack to fit into the locker. Damn, why can't we just get bigger lockers at school it would be so much easier. Again my phone vibrates and I stop what I'm doing to check it.
'@thescript favorited your tweet'. It took all my energy not to have a fangirl moment in the hallway. I was in total shock. They know I'm here. Suddenly my phone vibrates again.
'@thescript followed you' Okay now I'm definitely gonna pass out or something. The Script followed me on twitter!! Finally. I have waited for this for so long and now they finally do. Now the only thing remaining is to get Danny to follow me as well. Yeah, I know, good luck with that! Getting him to follow me is gonna be really hard as he's not really active on Twitter, and when he's online people spam him like crazy. I'm not saying that I don't, but I'm not that bad either. Also I'm not one of those who begs him to follow because I know he hates it, Mark and Glen do too. The best way to get their attention is just to talk more or less normal, jokes seem to work as well.
Cassidy and Joanna stands waiting for me at the stairs with Sophie while I try to fit the huge backpack into the tiny locker. They weren't fans of them at all, like I was. They listened to their music if it was on the radio, but other than that they didn't do it. Still while I was struggling with my backpack to try and fit it in my small locker they were getting more and more frustrated. They were all sighing loudly at me. Well it didn't exactly make it better for me either, at least not when I was nervous and shocked enough after the lads faved my tweet and followed me.
'If you wanna get in the front I think you better hurry, they start in 20 mins you know?'' Joanna calmly reminds me. At least someone doesn't yell at me, I'm stressed enough as it is.
''Now we can go! Sorry I was just a bit shocked! They faved my tweet about me being here and then they started following me on twitter!'' I almost screamed to my closest friends who stood there waiting for me. They rolled their eyes at me and sighed before they grabbed me by my arms and walked with me downstairs.
We got to the auditorium only 15 minutes before the lads were to go on stage but we still got front row somehow. I guess this school wasn't that eager to have them come and play. Every other fan would probably kill for this opportunity, but here people stand at the back, almost to avoid being at the front, crazy people. At least that was good for me and my friends as we were standing front row in the middle with only a few more moments to go before the lights shut off. I was seeing my all-time favorite band live at this moment, together with my closest friends. I almost couldn't believe this!
