Danny's POV
I was sitting on the chair in front of the window in my apartment looking out to the city. It was nearly 1pm. In only a few minutes Lauren would be knocking on my door. She had suddenly texted me yesterday wanting to talk. I must admit I was shocked by it, especially after my ma told me she had nearly moved on. Well it was a good thing though, she wanted to talk. I tried not to get my hopes up, but the fact that she suddenly wanted to talk to me again definitely made me really happy and I hoped she had changed her mind. I heard a light knocking on my door and I instantly stood up from the chair. I walked up to my door trying to calm down.
'Hey.' She said as I opened the door.
'Hi.' I said letting her inside the apartment. To be honest, she didn't look okay, not at all. My ma said she was good, happy, moved on. She didn't look anything like that if you ask me. It looked like she had been crying recently and she looked stressed and upset. She was still beautiful, my one true love, but she didn't look like herself. I didn't expect her to either, not after how we ended.
'So...You're back home again.' She stated as she stopped by the kitchen bench where she sat down at one of the chairs nearby.
'Yeah I am, at least for now. It feels good.' I replied following her and sitting down on one of the chairs.
'It must be. Coming home to relax definitely helps.' She forced a smile at me as the rubbed her hands together slowly. She was nervous.
'It really does. Sooo...' I said not knowing what do say hoping she would start the conversation. There was so much I wanted to say, but I couldn't. I didn't know how to start this.
'So...Well...I don't really know what to say really.'
'Me neither. I have so much I wanna say to you, but I just don't know how.' I admitted as I rubbed the back of my neck sighing.'Well me neither. It's been a long time and I just wanted to talk.' She sighed looking me in the eyes. I gave her a careful smile thinking what to say next.
'What made you change yer mind?' I asked.
'Yesterday...Before that I was good. Really good actually. So good I went to the little diner again, the one we used to go to together.' She said smiling at me. I smiled at the thought of the times we went there together. It was kinda our little place. I haven't even thought of going there again, and I probably won't for a while either.
'Yeah those were good days. Really good days.' I said. She nodded in agreement before she continued.
'Yeah...So I went there. I ordered our usual and as soon as it got to the table something in me just snapped. All the memories of us in there, or memories in general came back to me. I just couldn't take that anymore. I couldn't breathe. So I placed some money on the table and ran out gasping for air. I stood outside for a few minutes just thinking. That's when I decided that what I needed was you.' She said with tears in her eyes. She focused on the wall behind me, probably scared to meet my eyes that were filled with tears too. I couldn't believe what I just heard.
'I...I don't really know what to say Laurs.' I said shaking my head in disbelief.
'Me neither. So that was the reason I wanted to talk at least. As I was at the diner I realized that I'm not okay. Far from it. I'm not over you and I don't think I'll ever be. Sure I'll have my good and bad days, but this just doesn't end like that, so sudden. I'm sorry to bring this on you now, I know you must have had a hard time these days.' She said finally looking at me again. I gave her a smile which she returned.
