Chapter 45: Flirting With Death

(Lily's P.O.V)

I need you to distract Madara while I attack him from behind. Can you do that, Lily?"

"Yeah I can, but are you sure this will work?"

I ask Sasuke as he picks up his katana.

"Positive, now let's go."

We run over to Madara before he can kill the Second Hokage.

"Hey, Madara, over here!"

I yell and Madara turns to me. When Madara turns, Sasuke attacks from behind. Just as Sasuke was about to hit him, Madara somehow takes Sasuke's katana and stabs Sasuke in the chest.

"Sasuke!!!"

I run to them so I can save Sasuke. But by the time I get to them Madara has already thrown Sasuke aside and he grabs me by my neck.

"Did you really think that would work on me?"

Madara asks and he slams me onto the ground before I could answer. When I try to get up a horrible pain shoots through legs and they won't move.

"Crap, I think my legs are broken...'

"You're pretty brave for such a little girl, but that's to be expected from a woman that's chosen by an Uchiha. Your necklace proves it all. Tell you what, I'll make a deal with you. Become my woman instead and I'll let the boy live. A good deal don't you think?"

"Sasuke will live if I go with you?"

Madara nods.

"I..."

"D-don't...do it....Lily. You promised...me."

Sasuke cuts me off. I look over at him for a moment before turning back to Madara.

"So what is your answer?"

"I refuse!"

"Well that's too bad..."

Madara picks up Sasuke's katana.

"I had thought everyone from your clan perished decades ago, but I guess one survived."

"What do you mean?"

"Your tattoo. Now enough talk."

Madara takes the katana and thrusts it through my chest, piercing my heart.

"Lily!!"

Sasuke yells before I black out.

(Sasuke's P.O.V)

'I need to get to Lily!'

I try to get up, but I only fall back onto the ground.

"The fact that you have those eyes shows that you've lost many things and you're about to lose one more. You're about to die so quit trying to fight it."

I ignore Madara and keep trying to get up.

"I can't die here, and there's no way I'm letting Lily die!"

When I try to get up once more my vision starts blackening.

'No, I can't die! Lily needs me to save her!'

Lily's face is the last thing I see before I pass out.

"Sasuke, you're ok!"

Karin yells and jumps on me.

"What are you doing here, Karin?"

"I couldn't sense your's or Lily's chakra so we ran over here as quick as we could!"

"Ok then. Wait, how is Lily?! What happened to her!?"

I ask and Karin points to my other side. When I look, I see Lily laying on the ground with something coming out of her exposed stomach and that thing is connected to Kabuto.

"Kabuto, what are you doing to Lily?"

"I'm saving her just like I did with you."

"Why didn't you save her first?!"

"Because Lily asked me to."

I freeze with wide eyes.

"She did what? You're lying, Lily was unconscious!"

"She woke up for a moment when I got here. Since Lily was able to wake up on her own I thought you were in a worse condition, but it turns out I was wrong. It's using all of mine and her energy just to heal her. I'm positive that by the time I'm done, all the energy from the curse mark will be gone as well as her own. If she didn't have it, Lily would not be able to survive all the damage she had received."

I look down at Lily and I finally see the curse that she's kept hidden from me.

'That stupid thing caused her so much pain, but now it's the reason she'll be able to live.'

Karin starts to help Kabuto in healing Lily and I stand up.

"I'm leaving Lily in your care. Make sure she stays alive."

"Where are you going?"

Suigetsu asks.

"The battlefield. I'm going to end all of this."

(Lily's P.O.V)

'What's that noise? Didn't Madara kill me?'

I open my eyes and I'm greeted with five pairs of eyes staring at me.

"What's going on here?"

I mumble.

"Lily, you're alive!!"

"Suigetsu, when did you get here? And where is Sasuke?"

"Not long ago and Sasuke already left for the battlefield."

"What?! That idiot!"

I instantly stand up on my healed legs. Karin smacks Suigetsu.

"Stupid, don't tell her that!"

"No, thank you, Suigetsu. I need to catch up with him."

"What are you talking about, Lily, you almost died!"

Karin yells and before they can stop me, I head to the battlefield.

'Even though I have almost no energy, I will help you, Sasuke. Just wait for me!'
