You and your sibling's had been kept separated by this war for far too long. Your brothers were off fighting and you hadn't heard news of them for months; your sister had been taken by Rhaegar, the whole reason the war had started; and you were stuck in Winterfell, alone. Of course, you didn't have a choice. Brandon and Ned had always told you that there always had to be a Stark in Winterfell, and you had become that Stark now that they were off at war. You hated being in this position, ruling over Winterfell at 16 was not something you found entertaining, especially when a majority of the people were off fighting. It was empty, and the common people were becoming so demanding, despite you having no way of helping them.

To add to your loneliness, Robert was off fighting too. You had known each other for so long, growing up alongside one another due to your brother's friendship with him, and as of late things had changed. You had gone from friendly teasing to flirty jokes and he had been spending more time with you than with your brothers. Not that you minded, you had always thought he was handsome, but you missed him so much now that he was off fighting and you just wished they would all come home safely.

That evening, you were sitting in the Great Hall, reading a book by the candle light. You had found it hard to sleep as of late, and your chambers seemed lonely now that they weren't shared with your sister. It was almost silent, except for the occasional turning of pages and the crackle of the small flame until you heard a crash from down the hall. You quickly got to your feet, grabbing the small dagger from the table beside you and moving towards the door, causing the book to fall from your lap with a clatter. You could hear footsteps growing closer as you moved to hide behind the door, hoping that whoever was here would move past you.

As the door shifted slightly, you could hear heavy breathing and then he took a step inside and you cried out in happiness when you saw Robert standing in front of you. Your cry caused him to turn around and he grinned at you as you threw the small weapon from your hands and leapt into his arms, wrapping yourself around him as tightly as you could manage.

"We have to get you somewhere safe. Ned went to your chambers but I knew you wouldn't be there, he wouldn't listen," he told you as you buried your face into the crook of his neck. "Come on sweetheart, you have to get your stuff together. We don't know how long Winterfell will be safe for," he spoke again as he unwrapped you from him.

"Where are Father and Brandon?" you asked suddenly noticing that your oldest brother hadn't been mentioned in his description of finding you. He gave you a small frown his mouth opening and closing before he shook his head. Your hands came to cover your mouth, tears springing into your eyes as you tried to fight them.

"I'm so sorry," he told you as he pulled you back to him only to hear Ned's voice breaking the silence.

"I couldn't find her, any luck down here?" he called from the hallway, before moving inside to see him holding your shaking form. "Y/N, thank the Gods you're okay," he said and you pulled away to run to him, hesitating only as you reached him, your face stony.

"I want you to put your sword through Rhaegar Targaryen's heart for what he has done to our family," you told him, tears running down your face and your voice catching in your throat in little hiccups until he pulled you into a tight hug.

"I know," he murmured as he listened to you sob, "and we will," he added as he looked at Robert over your head. He nodded softly before turning to leave. "You have to go to the Riverrun, My wife will keep you there until the war ends and then you can both come home," he told you and you looked up at him in shock.

"Wife?" you questioned before recognising what would have happened. "Catelyn Tully?" you asked and he nodded before hesitating.

"Catelyn Stark," he corrected and you smiled at him, he had always had a crush on the woman, and was slightly heartbroken to hear that your brother would be marrying her. If it were other circumstances the two of you would have celebrated, but your brother had died for it to happen. "And she is with child, she wrote to tell me last week," he told you with a small smile and you nodded slightly, giving a half-hearted smile.
