Chapter 54

"Just what the hell are you doing here?" Matt asked angrily, moving towards Vada.

"Matt- Nicky. I can explain." Vada said, holding her hands out towards them.

"You can bet your ass you'll be explaining. Look at you!" Matt yelled angrily.

"Guys... Please calm down, we can explain." Matteo said, reaching out towards Matt but Nick pushed him back.

"Stay away from my sister." Nick said angrily, making Vada turn to him in surprise. She'd never seen Nick so worked up.

"Stop it. Nick, STOP IT!!" Vada yelled, grabbing Nick's arm to stop him from further attacking Matteo.

Matteo took a deep breath and ran his hands through his hair.

"You two need to calm down." He said calmly, knowing that their reaction was only natural.

"Don't tell us what we need to do!" Matt said, moving forward. "Our family trusted yours... and this is how you repay us? By turning our sister into some... stripper?"

"That's enough, both of you stop it!" Vada yelled, moving forward and extending her arms to block their access to Matteo.

"Vada, Move." Matt said.

"No." She replied.

"Move now!" He yelled but Vada didn't budge.

"I said NO. You're not going to hurt Matteo- you're not going to lay a finger on him." Vada said.

"What makes you think that?" Nick asked angrily.

"You two both know you can't hurt him here." Vada said, confirming the rumors they'd both heard without having to say another word. "This is his club after all and there is plenty of security."

Nick and Matt looked tense.

"You two need to calm down. I can explain everything." Matteo said.

"Then start talking." Matt said.

"Not here." Matteo said, looking up at them.

"Matteo- I'm sorry. I'm so sorry about this." Vada said but Matteo shook his head.

"Don't worry. I'll get the car to take you to the hotel." Matteo said.

"Not necessary- We're taking her home tonight." Nick said but Matteo frowned at them.

"No- No one leaves this city until I say so." Matteo said, finally raising his voice.

The boys were quiet.

"Tomorrow, you'll both meet me at my office- Vada can give you the address. I want you both there early and calm." Matteo said. "Do you understand?"

Matt and Nick were quiet.

"They'll be there." Vada said.

"Good. And I'll put this out there, just so we're clear. No one lays a hand on my son." Matteo said. "Vada- We'll talk soon."

Vada stared after Matteo as he walked away and disappeared into the club, then she turned back to her brothers who were staring at her angrily.

"Well?" Matt asked.

Vada shook her head.

"Well? Is that all you have to say?" She began, hitting his arm hysterically and catching him off guard.

"Vada- stop." Matt said as Nick pulled her off.

"Here I am, obviously heart broken and you two can't even think to be kind to me?" Vada said, breaking into sobs. "At least feel sorry for me."
