Rain's POV
"Is it because of me?" I asked as she was busy packing her things.
She continued with what she's doing. Did she even hear me?
"Paige" I hold her wrists, not letting her move.
"It's not because of you" I can see her tears that are about to fall from her eyes.
"Then why do you have to resign?" I asked her confusingly.
"Because I wanted to" she looked in the other direction.
I know how much she loves her job as a teacher, the school, and most importantly her students. And i'm pretty sure that she won't make a decision like this if it weren't for me.
"No, don't leave" I firmly said
Shock was written all over her face.
"I'll be the one to leave" I said.
"No, you don't have to do this. It's not about you" she started wiping her tears away
"Then why?" I stood in front of her, making sure that she faces me
"I can't work here any longer. Please, let me go" She held my hands this time
"Okay, if that's what you want. I guess you still love him" I gave her my fake smile
She shook her head " no, we're over. I broke up with him"
"Paige, I wish you all the best. I hope you find the happiness that you deserve" I sincerely said
"Thank you" she hugged me right away
What other people say is true. If you love someone, you should learn how to let them go. Even if it hurts as hell. Thank you Paige, for becoming a part of my life.
I guess i'm not the man for her. But I promise to be her friend no matter what.
I love you enough to let you go.
"Hey, stop crying" I said
" Rain...." she looked at me directly, straight to my eyes.
"Yes?" I asked
"C-can we still be friends?" She asked worriedly. "I hope you're not mad at me for breaking your heart. I tried to love you back but I just can't. I'm so sorry. You've always been there for me-"
I cut her words " past is past. Listen to me, don't be sorry. I must admit, it hurts to let you go. But i'll be fine, don't worry about me. What's important is that you find your true self." I'm trying my best not to cry.
"Paige, Ms. Ricketts wants to see you in her office now" Leendon suddenly came in
"It's okay, everything will be alright" I assured her
She gave me her sweetest smile and left.
"Wow, dude. That's so brave of you to do that. I'm proud of you man" Leendon gave me a thumbs up
"I'm not doing this for myself. It's for her own good. Let's eat?" I offered
"Sure, i'm so happy for you bro" he messed up my hair, just like what normal brothers do.
