I didn't want to get out of bed for school. But my mother's incessant knocking at the door of my bedroom woke me up.

"I'm up."

"Come down quickly."

"Okay."

After getting ready for school, I climbed down the stair and walked into the kitchen to find it empty, except for the dirty dishes near the sink.

I sighed.

My mother had called me down just so I could do the dishes. She didn't even leave breakfast for me. I should've expected that.

After doing the dishes, I picked up my bag and left the house. My back was hurting due to washing the dishes. But I couldn't complain because mother would get angry again.

Today was the last day of school. High school was officially ending.

"Hey, Amber. Ready for the last day at hell?"

"As ready as I'll ever be, Layla."
