Niall's POV:

I was talking on the phone with Nani, smiling at her voice as she realized it was me. "I will be home soon babe, I'm pulling onto our street now." I say softly into the phone. As I glance up at the road my eyes widen as I swerved to miss the person, standing in the middle of the road with a smirk plastered on his face. Where the hell did he come from? I grunted as I jerks the wheel to miss him but gasped as I ended up hitting something else; the telephone pole. My world went silent as a ring filled my ears and faded in and out of blackness for a few moments.

I coughed with a rasp to my voice as I opened my eyes to the burning smoke filling my lungs. "Nani!" I shouted, hoping she was still on the phone. I couldn't see anything but I think I was upside down. I rolled my body and felt gravity do the rest, jerking my body down with a thud, knocking the air from my lungs.

I could have sworn I heard screaming outside but there was a ringing in my ears that made me unsure. I quickly scrambled and fiddled with the lock on my door but it wouldn't budge. I coughed, feeling lightheaded from inhaling so much black smoke. I punched at the glass on the window hard with my fist. I felt it sting all the way up into my forearm but I persisted and hit it again until it cracked.

"Watch out Niall!" I heard a familiar innocent voice scream. I pulled back from the window right in time as a rock broke the window. I gasped and coughed harder, pushing some broken glass out of the way. Smoke flooded outside the new opening and I grunted as I crawled my way out through the small opening.

Nani's arms grasped underneath my arms and she dragged me away from the car. I cough badly and manages to stand up. I put my arm around her shoulders and she helps me limp away from that car. She held onto me, her fingers trembling. Once we were far enough away I collapsed onto the dirt, coughing up dirt I felt enter my lungs. She crumpled beside me and rubbed my back.

The fire hit the gas tank and I managed to pull Nani under my body, and shield her just in time. BOOM! The truck explodes into flames with a loud echo across the valley. I sheltered Nani from the debris with my own body, holding her close as she screamed. She gripped my shirt tightly and hid her face in my chest. I panted, short of breath, and kissed her cheek as I slowly pulled away.

"Shhh baby it's okay, I'm here. I got you." I whisper softly in her ear, holding her close to me as we sit in the dirt. Her white v-neck Tshirt now covered in dust and ash. She looked up at me with teary eyes and slapped my arm.

"Ow! Hey, what was that for?" I chuckle and raise and eyebrow at her. I pulled her gently onto my lap and looked at her curiously with a gentle and concerned expression as I wipe her tears with my hand gently.

"I thought you were going to die! You scared me!" She let out a soft chuckle as she sniffed and tried to stop crying. She wrapped her arms around my neck tightly and hugged me tightly. I smiled and wrapped my arms around her waist, hugging her carefully, a soft smile playing on my lips.

"It's okay princess, I'm right here. Come on love lets get inside, before anything else happens." I say softly and I lift her up. Her legs immediately curl around my waist like a child who has no Intention of letting go. She kept her face buried in my neck and I supported her carefully by her thighs. I didn't have to put much effort into it though as she clung to me tightly like a magnet. I couldn't help but smile softly at her cuteness.

I carried her slowly back to the house, breathing a little raspy because of the smoke. Once inside, I close the door and locks it before I lay her down on the couch. She pulls me on top of her by my shirt and I chuckle softly. A smirk outlines her lips and I lean down and kiss her as if it was the first time in a hundred years.

I gently pressed my waist to hers, almost afraid that I would crush her. My hands trailed up her waist as my lips moved in sync with hers. My fingers settled on the bottom of her shirt as I gently toyed with it, smirking as she let out a soft gasp on my lips. It hasn't even been 24 hours since we last kissed but I felt like I ha gone through withdrawal from her lips. Her soft, warm lips pressed to mine was something that drugs could never compare to.

I slowly pulled away and kissed down her neck, listening to her breathing catch in her throat as she arched her back so her chest was pressed to mine firmly. I let out a soft chuckle and after a moment of kissing any available skin, I slowly pulled away, reminded of something. I pecked her lips one last time and then looked into her eyes as I straddled her.

"Nani, has anyone been here while I was gone?" I say in a soft but urgent voice. I looked in her eyes and saw a bit of alarm, flash through them.

"No of course not. Why? What's wrong Niall?" She asks, becoming alert. I get off of her and sits beside her as she sits up.

"Well that's the reason I crashed. You see as I was talking to you this guy was just standing in the middle of the road and I had to swerve to avoid him. I didn't see any cars around though." I explain softly, intertwining our fingers together as I tell the story.

She gives my head a gentle squeeze and looks at me with wide eyes. "Was it jake??" She asks in a voice barely above a whisper but sounds panicky almost.

I look at her and gently kisses her forehead. "Princess, calm down. I won't let him lay a finger on you. I have never seen jake before. I had only ever talked to him on the phone. Can you describe what he looks like babe?" I ask her softly, trying to calm her down but trying to also figure out what the hell was going on.

She nods, taking a deep breath to calm down. I rubbed my thumb over her knuckles gently and kisses her hand. "Well he has brown hair and brown eyes, um he is sort of tall... I don't know he usually wears a Plaid shirt." She says, scrunching her eyebrows as she tries to think.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes softy. "Alright Nani, I'm going to tell you something and I want you to stay calm okay?" I say softly and opens my eyes to look at her. She gulps and nods as she stares at me, almost inevitably knowing the answer already. "I'm pretty sure it was jake then. My car is in no condition to drive and since I hit the telephone pole, we won't be able to hear his phone call to know when he is coming. We are on our own babe." I say softy as I gently pulls her into my arms and hugs her.

She whimpered and clung to my chest and I stayed firm, rubbing her back soothingly to calm her down. In reality however, I had no idea what we were going to do. All I knew is that I was going to protect her no matter what happened, even if that meant giving my own life. For now though, I will simply hold her close in my arms and savor her warmth. Her love was all I could ever ask for in return and I knew I already had it.

She was now my world and I would protect her, no matter what.
