Chapter 2

I wake up and go for a jog to clear my head of everything that happened the night before. I make it to the cove hidden behind a wooded area near the training house. I sit down on a rock watching the water lap against the rocks in a soothing motion. The sun shines on the water's surface making it shine like a million diamonds. The trees cast shadows on the water's edge making the water look deep enough to get lost in. I keep my eyes glued on the water's surface.

"Pretty isn't it?" I turn around and Kaidan is watching me.

"Yeah. How did you find me?" I ask.

"I asked your dad where you would go. He got worried they went by your house this morning and you weren't there. I asked where he thought you might be and I came to find you." Kaidan sits down next to me.

"I just needed air." I say.

"Does that translate into Adam would be at the meeting this morning and you needed time to get yourself together?" Kaidan ask.

"Something like that." I say half smiling. "That was just so unexpected last night. I mean I knew he was going to find his mate I just didn't think she would have been a close friend. I just. I don't know." I let my head fall into my hands and let out a sigh.

"No one ever does you know. It's not fair." He looks back at the water. "I mean take my parents for instance. Mom wanted everyone dead because her dad did. Dad rejected her then took her back and here I am today. The love child of a fucked up relationship." He lets out a shaky laugh.

"I'm sorry. " I lay my head on his shoulder. Kaidan starts to get up and drags me with him.

"Come on before they send out a search party for the both of us. That would be two Alphas missing and I don't think Benny wants to do this himself." I start laughing and so does Kaidan.

"How funny is fate though?" I ask.

"What do you mean?" Kaidan looks at me.

"I mean my beta and yours are now mates, and our dad's betas were mates" He starts laughing as we make our way to the pack house. He doesn't stop till we make it inside. Adam and Hanna look at us. Kaidan sobers up but has a stupid grin on his face.

"What's funny?" Hanna ask.

"Nothing." I say. Kaidan starts laughing again.

"Would you shut up Kaidan." I go and take my place at the head of the table.

"Lets get this shit over. I want to go back to bed." Ben growls.

"Had one too many last night?" I ask. He flips me off and I start laughing.

"Shhh." Ben pleads. I shake my head and look at them all.

"Ok so on to serious note. We need allies. Max has been a good friend of mine since we were young. I can count on him to be an allie. I helped him get Annamarie back from hunters." I say.

'Godric is an allie and a great friend. Remember when he had that issue with the rouges about the same time. I helped him out and he's been an alli ever since." Kaidan says.

"And Alric. I mean he is a wild card, but I helped him out a summer or so back when humans were sticking their nose where it shouldn't have been. I still say they were hunters." Ben looks at me.

"Also Roan he had a rouge problem I helped." I say.

"Ok four Alpha's." Hanna says. Kaidan looks at her.

"Yes but four very powerful Alphas with big armies." Ben says.

"Look at you Benny using that brain." I laugh and he shakes his head.

"Ok are we done I want to go nurse my headache." Ben groans. I nod and he leaves. His beta Gabe follows him out. I let out a sigh and look at Kaidan and he smiles at me.

"Hanna you and Adam can go." I say. Kaidan moves and sits next to me as I look at the alpha's that haven't sent anything to us.

"So when are you going to tell me about Kyle?" Kaidan ask.

"To be honest I wasn't going to say anything about it." I say.

"This is a serious threat Skye." Kaidan says.

"I know but like that rouge said he is the prince of the werewolves." I say.

"Not on this side of the fucking globe. We go by size of pack that's why your on top babe and i'm under you." I look at him and laugh.

"Your a pervert." He wiggles his eyebrows and I shake my head.

"Seriously Skye."

"How do you go from serious threat to not over here bitch back to serious." I say.

"Skye. I love you. I want you safe." Kaidan says. I smile and nod.

"I'll let you think about all of this." He gets up and places a kiss on the crown of my head. I hear the door open then close. I let my head fall onto the table.

"What do I need to do?" I look up.

"You're doing fine." I turn and look at dad. I smile and he hugs me.

"Why do I feel like i'm going to fuck everything up?" I ask. He sits down next to me and places his hand on mine.

"I felt just like you. I didn't know what the fuck I was doing half the time and then when Ky come into my life it was like a huge relief. She became my reasoning. She was my clearing in the storm. My haven." Dad says.

"I don't have that." I say. I look at my hands.

"You will. He will treat you like you need to be treated. He will love you so much." Dad says.

"I hope so." I say.

"Why don't you go see her." Dad says.

"It's been forever." I say.

"Go talk." He says.

Dad stands and kisses my head and leaves me to my thoughts. I put all the papers in the folder and set it on my desk and leave the room. I make it to the grove where we have our dead's ashes buried. I sit down and look at the gravestone.

"Mom. It's been a while. I know I don't really come by like I should. I know I rarely come out here and for that I am so sorry. I don't know what to do. I'm supposed to lead these people and I feel like i'm leading them over a cliff. I don't know anymore. We as a pack have six allies. Six mom. I don't know what to do. I love you." I quit talking and sit against the stone looking at the clouds roll across the sky.

I start to get up and turn back to the stone. "I'll come by more often I promise mom." I kiss the stone and make my way back to the house.

'Help me goddess do right by these people."
