Chapter 22

I sit in the cave staring at the water a little longer and watch the sun start to set outside the cave entrance.

I leave the cave and start back towards my house. I hear a branch snap and I turn to face whoever is there. Kyle walks towards me with his hands shoved in his pockets.

"Kyle." I say.

"I started getting worried. Sam told me to give you time, but I was worried." He looks at me with a crooked smile.

"I do need time Kyle. I mean I still want to rip Margo's head off her shoulders. I want to send her body back to her family, but i'm not." I say.

"Wouldn't be a good idea anyway." He says. I turn my head and look up at him.

"Whatever." 

"I'm just saying she is a lady of the court." Kyle continues.

"Why do you keep defending her. I mean most people who have mates don't want to defend another, but you just keep doing it." I growl as I think about it.

"I'm sorry OK. I just." He stops and looks at me.

"Just what?" I ask.

"I was once in love with her." He looks at me.

"Figures and let me guess she wants you to come back with her. Back to your safe little castle surrounded by guards and adoring fans." I snap. Not caring about the hateful things spewing from my mouth.

"She did." He looks down looking away from me. His blue eyes filled with sadness, anger, and love.

"Then go. I was fine before you got here." I say looking at him tears falling down my face. "I will be fine after you got here." 

I start walking away from him and towards my house.

"I told her no." He says.

I stop and turn towards him.

"You shouldn't have, because as far as i'm concerned you choose her the minute you decided to defend her!" I yell.

"Damnit Skye! I told her no because I love you and thinking about leaving you kills me. I don't know how not to be next to you. I don't know how not to wake up and smell the scent of black rasberries. I will miss you. She means nothing but a memory of the person I once was. Yes I still care about her but she is nothing next to you. You are the person the moon goddess deemed right for me. I love you and if you think I will walk away without a fight you are crazier than hell because the only way I am leaving you is by force out of my control." His eyes flash as he gets closer to me.

"I don't know how I can do this with her here." I say. "I love you Kyle. I love you more than anything or anyone in this world."

"Don't worry about her. "

"How can I not." 

"Because she isn't you." He slams my body against the tree and all I can feel is heat radiating from our bodies. His lips attack mine and he kisses my neck marking me. I let out a throaty moan and he looks at me.

"Shit Skye." He kiss me and I close my eyes letting our bodies move together.
