I'm sure we've all heard the traditional love story-you know, the one where the girl sees the guy and a part of her just knows that he's the one. The guy is usually a paragon of everything a girl could possibly want-strong, handsome, and usually at least somewhat intelligent. They meet, fall in love, he saves her from mortal peril, and then they live happily ever after. We've all heard that story, right?

Well, I'm proud to say that my story isn't quite your typical fairy tale romance.

When I first met Ash Ketchum, I did not think that we were meant to be together. As a matter of fact, I was pretty certain that we belonged on opposite ends of the planet. I was trying to become the strongest water Pokemon trainer in the world so I would measure up to my sisters, and he was just some scrawny ten-year-old boy whose Pikachu had fried my bike. Not only that, but he was completely impossible to teach! We spent more of our time traveling through Kanto fighting than not.

But then later on in our journey, he started to mellow out a bit and I began to see that there was more than just an immature kid. Sure, he still had the same childish excitement that lit up his eyes whenever he was in the midst of a battle or encountered a new Pokemon, but by then I found it more endearing than annoying. I guess it also helped that I wasn't constantly whining about my broken bike anymore (which, yes, I did get back eventually). We stopped fighting so much, became friends, and slowly I found myself falling for him.

Well, maybe that's not entirely accurate. Looking back on it all, I think I always liked Ash. I just refused to admit it because at the time, he was immature and annoying. Or maybe I liked him because he was immature and annoying, if that makes any sense at all.

We've been together for two years now, and I think most of our friends are a little surprised that we've lasted this long since we used to fight so much and still do on occasion. But honestly, that's the whole reason it works. Our relationship isn't one person making all the decisions and the other blindly following along. We don't agree on much-in fact, we don't really agree on anything. We fight all the time and challenge each other every day. But despite all that, we both have one very important thing in common-Ash is just as crazy about me as I am about him.

Anyway, that's my story for you. Yes, I know it isn't the usual tale of romance, woe, and heroism. But don't you think mine is so much better?
