(QING)
Being married has a lot of perks. If I had known before how much freedom I can gain when I marry the right person, I would have searched for Dayu earlier and married him in haste.
Being married gave me an excuse to attend different events than my family. Before, I always need to be where my parents are to show my support to them. Now, I have the option to say no to attending events with my family and instead go to another event with my husband. Just me and Dayu.
How neat is that?
Second, I am sometimes excused when my family is having informal dinner. I now have the option to dine at night in the Prince's Pavilion with my husband so we can spend time with just the two of us. Dayu and I did that for the first couple of months after being married.
But these past months, Dayu insisted on dining with the family as much as we can. Especially when my grandmother is present. Dayu doesn't want to miss a moment with the Queen Dowager.
But it's still nice to have that option that I can have a quiet dinner with just Dayu and me when I feel like it.
Third, Dayu keeps my relationship to my family open. He spends time with my mother, sister and grandmother that he became a bridge for me to them.
Dayu updates me with what is happening with my mother, sister and grandmother while he kept them abreast with my life.
Dayu is like my spokesperson to my family. When I see my family, I don't have to wonder what is happening to them, I don't have to ask them. And they don't have to ask me what is going on with my work because Dayu already updated them.
That saves us time with asking questions like "how are you" and "what are you up to now you bratty Baozang". Now, I know if my sister has a problem instantly. I know when my mother is not please with me. And I know what to buy the Queen Dowager as a present to make her smile.
Dayu gave me so much freedom. I can work, do my duty as a Prince and keep abreast at what is happening with my family easily.
I am so glad I married him. I couldn't have chosen a better spouse than my Dayu. That is why I treasure him so much.
I think I am lucky and I told my father that.
"I hope Dayu feels the same way," My father, the King, said after we had a meeting with the hotel board members.
"What do you mean, Father?"
"Does Dayu feels lucky to be married to you? I hope you are treating him right. I will be mad at you if Dayu is doing all the work in you rmarriage. Not to mention Xin, your father in law..."
My father in law will literally drag Dayu away if he thinks I am abusing my husband. Right after he shoot me with a double barrel gun.
"Xin Baba and I have an understanding. Don't worry, Father, I am making Dayu happy..." I gave my King the assurance he needs.
"Good." My father sighed. "I know the issue of heirs are being thrown at you and Dayu relentlessly. Keep being strong. You got time. The two of you. Think carefully instead of giving in to pressure. It's hard, I know. Your mother and I went through the same pressure but we thought carefully and got you and Baozang in the process. You are defected but I think we perfectly made your sister..."
"Father," we laughed. My King is teasing me now.
"Qing ah," The King pats my shoulder. "I am proud of you," he smiled at me. "I may not say that as often as I should be but you are doing good, son. Believe me. As someone who had been in your position, you are handling things better than I back then."
