(BAOZANG)
There is a buzzing sound going around the Palace nowadays. It has started a week ago when Dayu gege hired someone to replace Chong gege as his bodyguard. Chong gege is thinking of transfering to the big security building to take a bigger role on protecting the whole Royal Family, not just Dayu gege.
Hence, Dayu gege and Chong gege looked for someone to take on the Consort's bodyguard position. And they found one, this person who is making an impression on the Palace.
Many Palace staffs are talking about Dayu gege's new bodyguard. Personally, I haven't seen the man yet. People, especially Palace maids, are saying that the man is impressive.
Clearly, people are overly romanticizing this guy. How impressive could he be in a place filled with impressive men? I mean, my brother alone could shame anyone...he is the bloody Crown Prince, for goodness' sake. Then there is Lao ge, the smartest one. Chong ge, the strongest one. And Dayu gege, the coolest one. Surely this guy, whoever he is, couldn't be as impressive as those men in my life.
People are easily impressed nowadays. Please, they should start having higher standards.
But still, I am finally curious enough to check this guy out. I am the Princess, I must be on top of every trend. My pride will not take it if I am the last person to know what the buzz is all about this guy.
So I donned my running gear to check what m makes this guy impressive, as they said. I plan to run to the Prince's Pavilion to check on this new guy. It will also give me a chance to say hello to my brother and brother in law as well as check the authentic samurai sword Chong gege gifted Dayu gege.
"Gifted. Right, I wholeheartedly gifted that samurai sword to the Consort." Chong ge grumbled while I was having dinner with him and Lao ge three nights ago.
I looked at Lao ge. "What is wrong with him? He doesn't look too hot."
Lao ge just smiled at me. "He is living with one less samurai blade in his life. You have to give him time to...adjust."
"Okay," I said.
To be honest, I am more excited to see the samurai sword than the new bodyguard.
I tied my hair neatly and made sure my running shoes are not slipping from my feet. I turned to the mirror one last time and smiled at my Chief Maid, Wen.
"You look lovely, your Highness." Wen said. She was a former retainer of my GrandMa. When GrandMa passed away, I took Wen because I want someone experienced to replace LiYi.
LiYi is still in Europe, studying there. We call each other at least twice a week. There were awkward moments. Moments of sad silence in our calls but LiYi and I are both healing. We are certainly both in therapy. Dealing with the issue of Heise that he left on us and our friendship.
Heise was my former fiancé who seduced LiYi to betray me. LiYi is not making excuses though.
"I chose to betray you, Baozang. That's on me. I almost killed Lao gege and I was an active conspirator to the attempts on the Consort's life. The fact that I am free and not rotting in jail is unfair enough. I should physically stay away from the Royal Family. I don't deserve your grace. I certainly don't deserve your friendship. But I am shamelessly taking it because without these calls we have, I don't know if I can continue in this path that I am taking." LiYi said during one of our many conversations.
"I wish we can heal enough to see each other again," I said to LiYi.
"You will heal. You are strong, Baozang. So much stronger than I even imagine. More than Heise imagined. You are the strongest person on that Palace. I know, you will heal. I've been praying for it to happen."
