The following days had gone by so fast that Mallory could barely process what was going on. Mallory and Damon ended up trying to help Stefan control his anger and Rebekah decided to pitch in.

They thought back to 1912, the last time Damon and Mallory tried to help Stefan. Damon and Mallory ended up realizing that the person who taught them most of what it was like to be a vampire was the same person. Sage. A vampire whom they found out used to date Finn, the eldest Mikaelson brother.

It was morning, construction workers were restoring the Wickery Bridge, and the townspeople were there for the restoration fundraiser when Alaric, Meredith, Mallory, and Damon arrived.

Mallory looked over at Rebekah, who was speaking to Carol Lockwood, "Rebekah's up to something," She told the group in a calm tone, "She's been snooping around in places she shouldn't be."

"Tell me again, why are we here?" Alaric spoke up, looking over at Damon.

"Ric, the world can't stop just because you're an accidental psycho killer," Damon commented with a smirk on his face, causing Mallory to quietly chuckle.

"Do you have any tact whatsoever?" Meredith asked Damon, causing Mallory to continue laughing.

Just then, Carol walked over, sending Mallory a small smile before turning toward Carol, "Alaric, I'm glad you're here. Did you bring the sign?" She asked Alaric, who gave her the look that told him he had no clue what she was talking about, "The restored Wickery Bridge sign. The history department promised me you'd have it today."

"I-I don't have the sign actually it slipped...it slipped my mind. I've been...busy." Alaric tried his hardest to lie to Carol, causing Mallory to roll her eyes.

"Well, it's not an emergency. We'll just um—unveil it when the bridge is complete." Carol quickly told him, just before leaving.

"Get me outta here." Alaric said quietly and Meredith smiled at him.

"My pleasure." Meredith responded.

Just as Damon was about to walk away, Mallory grabbed him by the arm, stopping him, "Actually, Damon and I are gonna stick around for a bit." She told the group, looking over at Sage, who looked back at her and smiled.

Sage turned to Damon, sending him a small wink when he finally looked over at her, "Who is that?" Alaric asked the two siblings confused.

"Blast from the past," Damon responded, just before he and Mallory walked over to Sage.

"Damon Salvatore and Mallory Montague, my favorite students," Sage greeted the duo with a smile on her face.

"Sage, our hottest teacher," Damon greeted her back, "What are you doing here?"

"I'm just passing through," Sage replied and Mallory immediately knew she was lying.

"Oh, come on, Sage, nobody just passes through Mystic Falls. Trust me," Mallory told Sage, just as Rebekah walked up to them.

"Look what the cat dragged in." Rebekah spoke up, glaring at Sage.

"Easy there, Rebekah," Damon jokingly warned the blonde original, "You know she use to beat men for sport."

"She always was quite common." Rebekah commented, continuing to glare at Sage.

"Rebekah," Sage greeted Rebekah coldly, "What a happy surprise."

"What are you doing here, Sage?" Rebekah bluntly asked the younger vampire.

"Well, I heard Finn was finally freed from that casket your rageaholic brother Klaus carted him around in," Sage informed Rebekah, who slightly smiled.
