Once they near the lake, they separate, enacting Kyla's plan. Kyla recalls Snorlax and mounts Pidgeot's back, taking flight. Chaz flies to a nearby hill to pick up a large rock, then takes flight with it in his grasp. Chikorita takes cover in a bush, around twenty feet from the lakeside. Once Pidgeot and Chaz meet back up, above the lake, Kyla gives her final orders.
"Chaz, Seismic Toss!" Kyla orders.
Pidgeot and Kyla clear the area as Chaz gains altitude. He climbs far above the lake, then spins, throwing the bolder into the lake with a loud crash, as it hits the bottom. Chika flinches as the water splashes over her.
Kyla instantly recalls Chaz, as Gyarados emerges quickly, roaring as it looks around for its attacker. Ominous dark clouds fill the sky, as Gyarados continues to thrash around, roaring in defiance. Kyla opens a Pokeball as Snorlax pops out in mid-air, above the lake.
"Thunder Punch!" Kyla orders.
As Snorlax falls straight towards Gyarados, he charges up his attack. "SNOR! LAX!!"
Gyarados looks up just in time for Snorlax's punch to connect with its forehead. The deafening crash reverberates like thunder, sending shockwaves through the lake.
Chika moves back slowly, giving caution to the active battlefield.
Gyarados is stunned just long enough for Snorlax to land in the lake and make his way back to land.
Snorlax turns and uses Screech to lower Gyarados' defense.
Gyarados shakes his head, trying to regain its proper vision after Thunder Punch. Gyarados charges up a Hyper Beam and fires it, but it misses, landing too far to the right of Snorlax.
"Snorlax, Thunder attack!" Kyla yells from above.
Snorlax holds his claws to the air, charging and delivering a devastating Thunder attack to Gyarados.
Gyarados screams in pain as the electricity shoots through its body. After the attack dissipates, Gyarados breaths heavily, trying its best to escape the water.
Snorlax stands firm on the shore, glaring at Gyarados.
Gyarados rears back its head in a furious roar, as it brings it head back forward it blasts Snorlax with a Hydro Pump attack, sending him flying deep into the nearby woods.
"Snorlax!!!" Kyla shouts, concerned.
Gyarados continues to move closer to the shore. However, just as it reaches the edge an echoing roar can be heard from the woods, followed quickly by thunderous footsteps, running towards Gyarados.
"SNOR!!" Snorlax roars as he emerges from the woods, eyes red with anger. He does not slow down as he Headbutts Gyarados back into the water.
Gyarados is stunned, caught completely off guard by this display of agility from Snorlax.
"Snorlax! Lick attack!" Kyla orders.
Snorlax uses Lick, temporarily paralyzing Gyarados.
"Follow up with Thunder Punch!" Kyla shouts.
Snorlax rears back and delivers a Thunder Punch to Gyarados' jaw.
The thunderous clap of the punch echos through the woods and as far as the observatory, where Ivory watches nervously.
"That had to be it! That had to have knocked Gyarados out!!!" Ivory says to herself.
"Did we get it?" Kyla asks.
Just as the echo dissipates and everything goes silent, Kyla's expression turns to terror. There stands Gyarados, on the shore, charging up a Hyper Beam attack. Snorlax stands on the opposite shore, doing the same.
