Kyla pets Chika, trying to calm her. Chaz leans over Kyla and grunts at Chika.
Chika responds with tear-filled eyes, looking up at Chaz. "Chika chik chik."
Chaz sits up, shuffling Kyla and Chika around. He pets Chika on the head, grunting softly.
Chika forces a smile.
David returns and walks in through the main lobby. "Everything okay in here?"
"I think so, at least now that Chaz is on it." Kyla gets up and makes her way slowly to the table.
"How are you holding up?" David asks.
Kyla flips her hair behind her shoulder. "I feel better. Can't keep me down for long."
"Feel like a run, in the morning?" David asks.
Kyla looks at him for a moment, spacing out a bit.
"Kyla? You okay?" Blare asks.
Kyla shakes her head quickly. "Uh... Sorry, spaced out for a moment. What did you ask?" Kyla asks David.
"Will you take a morning jog with me?" David asks again.
"Sure!" Kyla responds.
"Great, well since you slept all day, think you can cover the clinic for the night?" David asks.
Kyla looks annoyed. "Oh yeah... sure."
"Great, I will go see to Chad....."
"Chad?!!" Kyla exclaims angerly.
"Uh... yeah." David hesitates.
"Easy Kyla, Jenny brought him in because he was basically blind." Blare says, calmly.
Kyla clinches her fist. "Is he going to recover?"
David walks up slowly and sits at the table across from Kyla. "It is often a touchy subject, having symptoms like these, but in both of your cases, you got lucky. His recovery may take upwards of a week or two, but it will happen. Afterwhich, I am going to arrange a job with Jenny, for him."
Kyla looks at him surprised. "And he agreed to this?"
"He did." David responds.
"Why?" Kyla asks.
"He is homeless, no money for boat fare, and no food." David responds, bluntly.
"Oh." Kyla looks away, ashamed.
David gets up and heads to the main lobby. "You can never judge a book by its cover. I should know, I learned the hard way with you." David continues out of the clinic.
Kyla and Blare sit in silence for about an hour. Chaz continues to cheer Chika up while Blare finishes up her paperwork. Blare makes her way back to the next room and glances around.
"Are you going to be okay tonight?" Blare asks Kyla.
"Yeah, I figure I have slept enough for one lifetime." Kyla smiles.
Eve bounces around Chaz and Chika, wagging her tail.
"How do you feel about Chika having a sleepover with us?" Blare asks.
Chika peeks her head out from under Chaz's arm.
"I am fine with that, might be just the distraction she needs." Kyla answers. "What do you think, Chika?"
Chika jumps around happily, on Chaz's chest, causing him to grunt a bit in discomfort.
Chaz grunts loudly for Chika to get off.
