"It's been an hour now!" Adrian's mom said, looking at her watch.

It had been over an hour since Meek left the room and they wouldn't let anyone back to see Adrian, besides Nicki and Omelly, who were still up there. Na had already left with the kids, so it was just Meek and Adrian's parents in the waiting room.

"I can't get any service to call Amir or Onika! If I miss the birth of my second grandchild, I will raise hell in here!"

"Come on, honey. Sit down," Adrian's dad said. "Meek, why don't you run to the vending machine while I calm her down? I think a few snacks will ease all of our nerves."

He handed Meek twenty dollars. Meek stood up, walking off. He couldn't lie, he was hungry. Making his way down the hall, he bumped into a nurse, knocking her papers all over the floor.

"Shit. My bad, shorty. I didn't see you there," he apologized, bending down to help her pick up her papers.

"It's fine," she said, bending down.

Meek gathered up a handful of her papers and stacked them neatly. He stood up, handing them to her. She smiled at him, putting them on her clipboard.

"Thank you...."

"Meek," he chuckled, holding his hand out.

She laughed a little. "Thank you, Meek."

"No problem um... Aries?" He said, reading her name tag.

"That's me," she nodded. "And no, I'm not an Aries."

Meek laughed. "See, I wasn't even gonna ask you that."

"Well, most people do," she confessed, smiling. "How come you're here?"

"Family member giving birth," he said.

Aries gasped. "Awww! I work in the maternity wing. I love babies! Birth is so beautiful."

"It really is. You have any kids?" He asked.

"I do not. You?"

He nodded. "Yeah. I love kids."

"Me too," she smiled. "Well, I gotta get back to work. Maybe we can hang out some time?"

"Of course," he chuckled.

They exchanged phone numbers and Aries walked off. Meek licked his lips, watching her ass bounce in her scrubs. Turning away, he continued to the vending machine.

Nicki sat in the chair, watching a nurse wrap Omelly's hand up. She wiped her tears and sniffled a little.

"Remember to be really careful with that hand and to take your painkillers," the nurse told Omelly.

He nodded. "Thank you."

He and Nicki got up, exiting the room.

"Nic... I know it's a lot to ask, but if Adrian don't make it, can you take my daughters in? I can't live without that girl. I won't live without her."

"O.. don't talk like that. If Adri doesn't make it, those girls will need you more than ever," Nicki said. "You can't leave your babies out in this cruel ass world. They need their father."

Omelly sighed. "I just don't know what to do. My fiancé in there fighting for her life, Nic!"

"I understand, O. I do," Nicki said, her eyes watering. "You have to be strong."

They walked down to the waiting room and everyone looked up. "Is everything okay? Can we go see her!?"

"They're um.. they're reviving her. We haven't heard anything else," Nicki said to Adrian's parents.
