Chapter 26

I was greeted by Stiles as soon as my mother dropped me off. Standing outside his door as he tried to think about something to say. I groaned inwardly as I knew this was a bad idea. I should have asked to stay at Lydia's instead, but here I was. It was too late to just drive over to Lydia's since Noah was expecting me. From the looks of it, Stiles didn't know about this.

"So, are you going to let me in?" I asked after a long moment of awkward silence.

Stiles jumped and moved to the side as he replied, "Sorry, come in."

"Juliette," Noah called out to me, "Make yourself at home. You are welcome to stay as long as you need."

I smiled over to him, "Thanks. I'll just be staying tonight, but I think it would be better if I stay at Lydia's..."

Noah looked between me and his son, noticing the change in the two of us. He just nodded and motioned me to the kitchen where dinner was laid out. We all sat around the table as we ate the pizza that they had ordered for the night.

Dinner was silent as we ate. Noah seemed worried about it but was unable to think of a conversation to bring up. Stiles kept looking over to me, anxiety clear in the air. I just looked down at my plate as I ate, keeping to myself. It got to the point where I was done with my dinner and I excused myself to go outside.

I sat inside my car as I just cried.

I was a mess.

Never had I cried over going stag to Formal. Then again, it was a lot added on top of everything. I don't know how long I was in my car when someone knocked at my window, making me jump from fright. I looked over to the window to notice Stiles with a tear in his eyes. Worry overtook me as I opened my door.

"Stiles?" I asked, "What happened? Why are you crying?"

"I..." he tried to say as his voice cracked, but continued, "I thought giving my dad something to drink would get him to open up about the case, but he ended up talking about my mom... and he has never talked about her before... I'm a horrible son..."

I pulled him into my arms as he hugged me and allowed himself to cry. I rubbed his back as I tried to soothe him.

"You're not a horrible son, Stiles," I told him, "You were just trying to figure out what was happening. You wouldn't have to know that this would have happened."

"Why are you so good to me?" he asked, "Even after I'm the one that caused you to cry in your car."

"I'm just being emotional," I told him, trying to hide my sadness with a smile, "Don't worry about it."

"But-" Stiles tried to say something but his phone began to go off.

We pulled away from each other as he sighed and picked it up, "Yes Scott?"

I rolled my eyes. Scott has always been the one to ruin every moment Stiles and I had. I crossed my arms as I leaned on my car.

"Wait, what do you mean he's on a date with your mom?" Stiles asked, pulling my attention.

I listened in as Scott replied, "Peter just left with my mom to go on a date! I need your help to stop it!"

I took the phone as I asked, "How the hell did he get to her so fast!? It's only been a day since we found out it was him!"

"How should I know!?" Scott answered back, "So are you guys going to help me!?"

"We're on it," I answered after looking at Stiles to confirm the same answer with a nod.
