"I'm here!" Lyra called breathlessly as she ran to Mrs. Weasly "I'm sorry I'm late, I ran over a little bit at the pet store." She said holding up a brown feathery barn owl."
Mrs. Weasly smiled warmly, her nervousness fading. "That's quite alright dear! Got yourself an owl did you?"
"I've been saving up for one for my parents, so they can send letters and stuff!"
"Oh, that's sweet dear. They'll love it." She replied, "all ready to head back now?"
"Yes!"
They got back to the house around 6:00 laden with bags and a happy hooting owl. The twins apperated at the bottom of the stairs.
"You two took forever!" Fred teased.
"Miss me and your mum that much Fred?" Lyra cooed teasingly back.
"No, but you weren't stuck here with this prat," he gestured at his twin.
Mrs. Weasley cut him off "Alright that's enough, you two don't get into it, Bring Lyra's bags and owls upstairs for her will you?"
"What did I do?" George asked insulted.
She ignored him though "Lyra dear, would you mind starting dinner while I bring these up? I want to give Ron his new broom myself."
Lyra smiled "Of course!"
Mrs. Weasley returned her smile before turning and starting up the stairs. The twins quickly came over and began to take the bags from her. "I'm not sure I like how chummy you've become with our mum." George teased.
Lyra blushed, she would never have admitted it to him, but she was secretly very happy that Mrs. Weasley and her got along. Hermione had filled her in on how cold she had been to her when that offal writer published all those false stories. So she had dreaded being hated by her. George leaned in and pecked her on the cheek bringing her immediately from her thoughts. She looked up at him surprised.
He grinned "Earth to Lyra, I was only joking."
"Not sure she even heard you," Fred snorted before aperating away.
She looked back up at George "S-sorry, I wasn't upset, just thinking."
"It's fine, my dashing good looks leave women speechless all the time, I'm used to it."
"Mmmm. Sure they do. Hey, real quick, when you get a second I have something really important to tell you and Fred. But we've got to be alone."
He looked at her mischievously "ooohhh Lyra's got a secret. No worries, mums gonna be to busy fussing over her ickle Ronnie to pay us much attention."
She felt his mood shift slightly, and she stood on her tippy toes and pecked his lips. "I've got to go get dinner started, be nice to our owl okay?"
"Our owl?" He grinned.
"Well, I figured it would be easier to conduct business, but the main reason I got it was really for my parents."
"Are you sure you won't marry me?"
She gave him a dirty look and started for the kitchen.
"That wasn't a no!"
She went to retort that it was, but he disappeared with a loud pop before she could. Shaking her head she walked into the kitchen and got to work.
She had washed and was now prepping the vegetables when Mrs. Weasley walked in. Mrs. Weasley looked around to see the fire stoked, and the oven preheated as well. Lord knows how her sons managed to attract such abled girls. She thought to herself, watching Lyra and thinking of Hermione.
