Chapter 1

"I cannot believe this, son. How hard is it for you to get a job? There's thousands of job opportunities and each day it the probability decreases smaller and smaller. Especially jobs for young adults like you."

My dad begins to lecture me and scold me.

Now that I'm 18 and near graduation of high school, it's a common thing to find a starter job to get cash flowing for you and your family as well as your education.

And my parents expects me to exceed their expectations. Each task I am given upon, I am expected to improve better. But over these past few months, I have not been succeeding at all.

This was my 17th failed interview and I had to bring the bad news to my parents in front of my little sister, Komachi, who is also going to be a 2nd year student.

Let me list a few jobs I tried to take.

Cashier, janitor, warehouse, a lawnmower and a costume contest. But I got fired for lack of creativity. I didn't even put a normal costume on, I just wore my regular clothes and hopped in there.

I got some points for my eyes but that was just it. And I wasn't even paid because I didn't win it. Some 7 year old won it for wearing a Santa costume.

"This can't keep happening. Stop making the same mistakes and start improving, son. If you don't have a job by the time you graduate, you're out of the house."

Then my parents leave to go to work, closing the door harshly.

My dad was filled with frustration and anger, but my mom was filled with sorrow and worry.

And my little sister happens to feel the same thing.

"Don't listen to dad. I'm sure you can find a job sooner or later. Also, when does your graduation starts?"

"2 months."

I replied.

"That is a lot of time to find a job! In 2 months, I would have graduated my 1st year. And in 2 months, I would probably have a boyfriend!"

My older brother instincts kicked in.

"Absolutely not. You will not have a boyfriend. Who knows what boys could do to you?"

"Maybe that's why you haven't found a job yet."

Ouch!

I've taken hits stronger than nuclear bomb detonations.

"But in all seriousness. You just have to believe that you'll find a job! And once you do, you will go to university and get an even better job! Then you have a good wage, good house and you could possibly let your younger sister live with you for a while."

"That just makes it weird-"

"Did I also mention that I would be living without a boyfriend most likely?"

"I'll make sure this happens."

We are deeply sorry to break the news but you are not hired as a professional nanny.

They don't seem to be sorry.

I did try to babysit kids though. I have experience as an older brother and I had babysit Kawasaki's little sister before. But things got weird as she started to have little fan fictions stories about me and her that I decided it was necessary to not babysit her anymore. I even told Kawasaki the reason and she fully agreed upon my retirement 100%.
