Chapter 53: The air exploded

Fred's POV

I was currently near the Room of Requiremt with Percy, who tried to apologize for his behaviour the last years, Harry, Ron and Hermione

We saw the Minister coming our way when Percy did the unbelievable

Hello, Minister!" bellowed Percy, sending a neat jinx straight at Thicknesse, who dropped his wand and clawed at the front of his robes, apparently in awful discomfort. "Did I mention I'm resigning?"

"You're joking, Perce!" I shouted as the Death Eater I was battling collapsed under the weight of three separate Stunning Spells. Thicknesse had fallen to the ground with tiny spikes erupting all over him; he seemed to be turning into some form of sea urchin. I looked at Percy with glee.

But then I realised it....

"I hope you're not joking because you made me realise something" I ran over to my older brother and hugged him.

We flew backwards and seconds later we were lying on the ground.

I jumped to my feet and looked around myself to everyone getting to their feet.

"You stood there just seconds ago... before the explosion" Percy hugged me tightly "You could be dead by now! You're alright?" he asked me

"Yeah, I mean considering the circumstances I am fine! What about the others?" I looked around

"We're fine!" Harry screamed

"Thanks Merlin!" Percy sighed

"I know now is not the time, but what did you realise?" my big brother asked me

"There is a girl! You never met her because you were too busy! I messed up big, but I need to tell her how much she means to me! What if today is the last chance?" I told him

"Go on! I got this here! Tell her how you feel! But be careful!" Percy told me

I made my way to the Astronomy tower where she was at the beginning of the battle

"Where is she?" I asked Kingsley when I didn't see her anywhere

"Y/N? She went down to the courtyard with Dean Thomas to help the others!" he told me

"Thank you!" I ran down the stairs faster than I could have imagined

I saw Colin Creevery struggle with death eaters.

I thought about helping him for a moment but when I saw how helpless he looked I went over to him.

"Stupefy!" I sent back one of the death eaters

"Fred?" the guy who was not so little as I remembered him asked

"Yes?"

"You saved me!" he nearly cried "I don't know how to thank you!"

"You be careful alright?" I told him

"I will" with that he ran off "But I will defend this school" he screamed

That is true loyalty...

I continued to run downstairs but when I entered the main courtyard I didn't know where to start.

There were so many people helpless and defeated...

I could barely make out any of them.

I saw Lavender Brown lying unconscious on the ground.

Too many innocent lifes are taken tonight.

But where the hell is she?

I helped here and there but I was still unable to find her in the darkness

"WATCH OUT FRED!" a familiar voice screamed and after I defeated the death eater I looked around and saw Wood flying around and helping the other

"WOOD?" I asked in disbelief

"They already took the Quiddicht pitch! They won't get anything else" he told me before flying away.

Seeing how old students, just like me, returned to Hogwarts to defend their home nearly broke my heart and made me happy at the same time

But seeing how many lifes were taken today made me realise that I have to find her!
