Chapter 55: This can't be happening

Fred's POV

I kept looking for here everywhere.

I was nearly giving up until I saw a glimpse of Y/H/C hair.

I quickly turned around and my heart was broken.

My instincts were right and I found Y/N just not how I wanted it.

I kneeled beside her.

This can't be happening

"Y/N wake up! Come on, wake up!" I screamed and started shacking her, but nothing happened

"NO!" I cried out

I searched for a Pulse, but I wasn't able to find one.

I felt tears ruuning down my face.

I put some of hair that was on her face behind her ear.

"If you can hear please give me sign"

"You have fought valiantly, but in vain. I do not wish this. Every drop of magical blood spilled is a terrible waste. I therefore command my forces to retreat. In their absence, dispose of your dead with dignity. Harry Potter, I now speak directly to you. On this night, you have allowed your friends to die for you, rather than face me yourself. There is no greater dishonor. Join me in the Forbidden Forest, and confront your fate. If you do not do this, I shall kill every last man, woman and child who tries to conceal you from me." Voldemort's voice spoke to us again

People started apparate away and the battle stopped for now...

Ginny was the first one to find me...

She helped me up and hugged me "It's ok Fred" she told me

"I just came to tell how much she actually means to me and..." I couldn't finish

"I know" she told me "Do you wanna hear something good?" my little sister asked me

"What is there good to say?" I asked her confused

"She doesn't have any injuries! She didn't die in any pain" Ginny told me but you could see that she tried to hide how hurt she was "We should get her inside don't you think"

"I can't do that" I still cried and looked at Y/N's body lying with her back on the stone floor.

"Get inside Fred! I will get someone!" Ginny took my hand and lead me inside where the rest was.

The second Georgie saw us he came running to us and threw me into a hug

"What happened?" he asked us

"Y/N" Ginny said

"I am so sorry Freddie!" my brother me "I know how much she meant to you"

You could see tears building up in his eyes as well

We didn't realise that Ginny left us before mum approached us

"I just heard!" she hugged both us "She was such a lovely girl!"

We sat down in silence all lost in our own thoughts

"I should have told her earlier" I said

"What?" Georgie asked me

"I should have told Y/N before! I should have told her that I love her!" I told my brother

"You love her?" Georgie asked me in disbelief "I mean I always knew that you still liked her even though you never confessed it but I never thought you would actually confess it"

"I wanted to tell her!" I looked at my brother "I wanted to tell her but when I found her it was already too later" I cried

"I am so sorry Freddie!" he said "But you know there is one positive thing?" he looked at me

"I don't know! When Ginny said something positive it didn't really helped" I sighed

"At least you two were on good terms again! Imagine you never apologized to her! She didn't hate you Fred and that is definitely a good thing"

"You're right" a small smile formed across my face, but it faded away quickly

"GEORGE!"

"KATIE" George jumped up and lifted up his girlfriend while hugging her "I am so happy to see you" he told her.

Even though I was happy that nothing happened to Katie it still ached to see them happy and together.

I looked at my hands for a second and my eyes fell on my ring. I was still wearing it. I never took it off.

In this moment I was happy that I at least had a part left of her that I could look at whenever I wanted.

We were so happy back then. We knew that something was coming but we didn't really care because we were too happy with each other.

I should have protected her.

I should have been there

"There is nothing you could have done" Katie sat down besides me "I know what you're thinking Fred! But trust me there is nothing you could have done" Katie repeated "I know how much it hurts" she rested her head on my shoulder "But please stop looking for mistakes and stop thinking you could have done better"

It did feel good to hear Katie saying all of this

"I think there it something going on in the courtyard" George told us
