CHAPTER TWELVE!
Limerence

" She already has a date. "

EMBER HAD ALWAYS HATED BALLS. The white family would often go to formal events such as dances and balls. It was always a way for old men to flex the power they had.

Most of the time, Ember would dress up and stand in a corner. Only ever talking to people theta came over and talked to her. It's not that Ember hated people, she just didn't like the thought of socializing with people that thought they were better than her.

Yet, the annual Halloween ball creeped up on her faster than she would've thought. As her head of house put it, the ball was a way for the students to have fun in a safe way that didn't include spiked drinks. As every year, there was a theme.

A masquerade must of caught the headmasters eyes because he chose it for the fifth years and up.

Speaking of fifth years, Ember's last ball at Hogwarts wasn't very grand. The theme was house colors. Her yellow dress was very beautiful, but it was too big to actually dance in and she spent most of her night sitting down with Ophelia and River since they had gone together as friends.

Ember wished it was more with River.

This year she really didn't know who she would be going with. River was dating Lily Evans and Ophelia Iren Wails.

Skylar had already been over the moon about going with Genny this year. She had made her prefect rounds with Ember and spent the whole time talking about how exited she was.

Ember thought someone had to ask her. And how was she right.

Ember was walking with the Marauders, listening to them complain about not having dates. Mainly James, Remus, and Peter since Sirius got a date the day the ball was announced.

"They walk around in packs!" James complained. Ember laughed.

"They aren't dogs Potter."

Sirius grinned happily, "yeah that's me prongs!"

Ember had always wondered about the nicknames they had for eachother. Moony was pretty obvious, because he's a werewolf and all. She was getting tired of wondering, "okay seriously- don't you dare Sirius- what are up with these nicknames?"

The boys exchanged glances before Sirius turned to Ember, "I'm telling her."

"No!" James groaned out. He loved Ember, he truly did, but telling her they had committed a crime? Wasn't on his to-do list for the day. Granted he didn't keep a to-do list.
