John and Alex sat on the bed in the spare room John was staying in for the night. Alex looked at John expectantly, still tired and wanting to go back to bed, but also wanting to have a proper conversation with his best friend about why he was ignoring him.

"Well? What did you want to talk to me about?" he asked sleepily, and John's eyes softened.

"We can talk in the morning if you want to go sleep," he offered, partly because he wanted more time to prepare.

Alex blinked at him, suspicion buried in his droopy eyes. "No, we can talk now. Just need some coffee or something," he yawned.

John rolled his eyes. "Come on, Alex, we both know that you consume so much coffee that the caffeine does little to nothing to you," he argued. Alex shrugged and leaned back against the wall.

"Fair enough," he said. "So, start talking, pretty boy, or imma get it." John sniggered, blushing a little at the nickname, 'pretty boy'.

"Or you're gonna get what?" he teased and Alex straight up whined.

"Leave me alone, I'm tired and my brain's half baked," he complained. "C'mon, Laurens, just tell me why you've been avoiding me."

John gulped and looked down at his hands. "Well, uh, first of all, Peggy and I, we, uh, we kinda broke up," he started, but Alex let out an inhuman screech.

"What?!" he shrieked, and Angelica banged on the wall.

"Shut up Alexander!" she yelled. He quietened down after calling out a sheepish apology.

"What?" he asked John quietly. "You broke up with Peggy? Why? You two have always been so perfect for each other."

John fidgeted with his hands and looked away from his best friend. "I didn't break up with her, she broke up with me and I agreed but we're still friends because neither of us did anything wrong, we just broke up because-" he was cut off by the smoke alarm blaring and Alex sitting bolt upright and yelling that he was awake.

The two exchanged a look before leaving the room to go downstairs and investigate the trigger of the smoke alarm. They snuck into the kitchen, clutching onto each other.

Alex flipped on the lights and the two were met with a guilty Eliza, who was burning some paper in the fireplace. She looked at them guiltily. "Oops?" she tried.

Alex blinked tiredly and nearly collapsed on John, who caught him and knelt on the floor with the smaller male cradled in his arms. "Alex," he choked out around fake sobs.

"John," Alex played along weakly. "Tell my family, and Thomas, that I love them. I'm sorry I won't be making it home with you this time. I love you as well, bro, never forget that."

With those over-dramatic words, Alex fell limp, and John wasn't sure if he was playing or actually asleep, so he let out a deafening scream. Alex winced and covered his ears.

"While I'm glad you would be so distraught over my death, did you have to scream like that? I think you might have just burst my eardrums Jack, Jesus," he complained, touching his ears gingerly as though he expected there to be blood or something.

John just rolled his eyes. Eliza piped up, "He doesn't actually scream very loudly. He's nowhere near my record." Alex just grumbled and snuggled closer into John's hoodie.

He plucked at the material and sent John a pleading look that meant that John wouldn't deny him anything. "Please can I have your sweater, John?" he begged. John just sighed and took it off, handing it to Alex.

"I swear to god, between you and Peggy, I'm not going to have any hoodies left," he grumbled. Alex's head popped out of the top of John's jumper and he grinned.

"You can always have one of mine. They're all big on me, so they should be the right size on you," he offered. "However, once this loses your scent then you're taking it back."

John flushed a deep red. "Isn't that something that partners do? Particularly teenage girls? They steal their boyfriend/girlfriend/partner's jumpers and only give it back when it's lost its smell of the other person?" he asked.

Alex looked lost. "If you have to be my boyfriend for me to steal your hoodies, then you are now officially my boyfriend," he replied sleepily.

John smiled through his blush this time. "I don't know how Thomas would feel about that," he teased.

Alex shrugged. "He'd be fine with it. He'd just say you're cute and leave it at that," he mumbled, on the verge of falling asleep on the kitchen floor in his best friend's (I legit wrote boyfriend and barely noticed anything was wrong, lol) arms.

John stood up, with some difficulty considering that holding Alex prohibited him from using his arms. "I'm taking you back to your room and we can finish our conversation in the morning," he promised. (haha, or will you?)

Alex barely muttered his consent before his head started nodding. John knocked on Alex's bedroom door and Thomas opened it. "John? 's he a'ight?" he asked, nodding tiredly at Alex.

John smiled. "Yeah, he's just tired. Fell asleep in the kitchen when we went down to see what triggered the fire alarm. Figured I'd give him back to you," he said, offering Thomas his boyfriend.

However, when Thomas tried to take the small male, Alex whined, and clubg to John. "He isn't going to let go anytime soon, you can stay in here tonight if you want," Thomas offered.

John blinked and felt his face grow warm with familiar heat. "You wouldn't mind?" he asked, surprised. Thomas frowned in confusion.

"Yeah, of course. Why would I mind?" he asked, almost swaying on his feet. John hurriedly accepted and walked to the bed, keeping a careful eye on Thomas to make sure he didn't fall over on the way.

Thomas collapsed in Alex's double bed, and rolled over, allowing John to place Alex down and lie next to him. John looked over Alex's head at Thomas, who was already asleep. John smiled and pulled the quilt, which had been thrown down to the bottom of the bed when Thomas got up to let John in, over Thomas's shoulders.

Alex was now completely hidden under the covers, and John made sure the quilt tucked under his chin so that he didn't accidentally suffocate. He then settled down next to Alex, who cuddled into him.

"Good night," John whispered to a room that would never hear him.

Damn, I had more inspiration for this than I thought. I genuinely thought that this would take longer to write, but hey! Two chapters in the same week! Is this some kind of miracle?

But don't expect this to become a frequent thing. I only wrote this because I got woken up at three am my time by my writing alarm and didn't want to go back to sleep. Updates won't usually be so close together.

Anyway, see y'all later at some point! Byeee
