John was the first to wake up and he couldn't help but be relieved that things weren't like they are in fanfics and he wasn't hit with memories of the night before. In fact, his memories of the night before were still just sitting there, waiting for him to unpack them.
Alex's eyes cracked open not long after John's and he smiled at the other boy. "Hey," he croaked, his voice hoarse from disuse. John just nodded blearily back, trying to wake himself up.
When it became apparent that Thomas wasn't going to wake up anytime soon, John stretched with a groan, saying, "I'm gonna go make coffee. You want any?"
Alex nodded enthusiastically, sinking back into the pillows. "Black, three sugars?" he asked hopefully. John chuckled and laughed, getting out of the bed.
"'Course Lex, I know you," he teased back. Alex pouted, but snuggled into Thomas and grinned fondly at John seconds later. "See you in a few minutes."
When John came back with three coffee mugs balanced in his hands, Alex sat straight up and made grabby hands at him. John laughed and put down his and Thomas's mugs before handing Alex his.
He then gently shook Thomas awake, eliciting a muffled complaint from the older male. John forced him upright before shoving Thomas's coffee into his hands. Thomas made a surprised noise but took a sip, humming approvingly.
"You, John Laurens, are going to be wasted in marine biology," Alex accused. "You should not be going into it when you can brew the ultimate cup of coffee."
John laughed sheepishly and rubbed the back of his neck. "What can I say? I used to make it for Dad all the time when he was staying overnight at the hospital," he explained.
Alex noted how his shoulders tensed at the very mention of hospitals, and also the way that he turned his face away and swiped at his eyes when he reached for his coffee. Alex didn't comment on it though, just squeezed John's hand supportively.
When he turned back around, John's eyes were warm with appreciation. "While the situation may not have been ideal, I wouldn't trade the skills you gained for anything," Alex told him.
John smirked easily. "Full control over the national expenses?" he checked and Alex glared at him.
"Why can't you just take a compliment instead of ruining it?" he whined. Thomas snorted and wrapped an arm around Alex's back.
(Dead Mom from Beetlejuice just started playing and I'm getting serious John vibes right now)
He smiled down at his boyfriend dotingly and replied for John, "You wouldn't love him if he was any different."
John froze, both at the implication that Alex loved him and also at the idea that Alex wouldn't love him if he changed. Alex of course, picked up on John's adverse reaction and slapped Thomas lightly.
"Don't say shit like that dumbass, not until we have everything out in the open," he scolded, albeit lovingly. Thomas nodded and leaned down to capture Alex's mouth with his own.
John looked away uncomfortably until the two were done. (Potential ace John? Yay or nay?)
Alex settled against John, humming gently. "When do you guys wanna have that conversation we told that one sister we would have?" he asked.
Thomas snorted. "That one sister was Martha, and we can have it whenever you guys are ready. I'm already certain in my feelings for both of you," he confessed.
John smiled. "You both already know how I feel," he admitted. "Though if you want me to expand on my feelings then I will. But I don't really mind when we talk, as long as things stay like this until then."
Alex shrugged. "I'm with John. As long as things stay as relaxed as they are right now, then I'm happy holding off talking for the time being. Remember though, if you really need to get your feelings off your chest, Tom, you can just tell us," he reminded his lover, earning himself a kiss.
"I know," Thomas mumbled against Alex's lips. John cleared his throat uncomfortably and the couple drifted apart, blushing.
John drained the last of his coffee and stretched with a yawn. Alex looked at him adoringly as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. John caught his crush's look and flushed. "What?" he asked.
Alex was suddenly lost for words. The sunlight was streaming through the window behind him, capturing John's face in its rays. It shone through his hair, making the dark brown seem lighter than usual and his hazel eyes seemed almost green in the light. John's freckles stood out even more with the sun on his face as a natural spotlight and Alex thought that the boy had never looked more beautiful.
Thomas smiled at John kindly. "He's just awestruck. You look stunning," he breathed, seeing everything that Alex saw.
A light blush made its way onto John's cheeks, making him all the more adorable. "Well, stop," he whined. "You're making me feel uncomfortable with both of you staring at me."
Thomas leaned forward and pressed a delicate kiss to John's cheek. Alex just blinked a few times, breaking the spell, and flushed scarlet when he realized what he'd been doing.
"Uh, sorry, you just looked really, um what's the word? Ethereal," he stammered. John looked away shyly.
Thomas smiled at him. "If you want, you're welcome to take a shower," he offered, despite the Schuyler home not being his own to offer. "You already know where the bathroom is."
John nodded and moved quickly, grabbing some clothes from his backpack. He paused in the doorframe. "Would you guys mind coming with me home? I don't have many clothes with me and I don't want to go back alone to grab some more or whatever," he mumbled the last bit.
Alex replied instantly. "Yes! Yes, of course, we'll come with you to grab some fresh clothes," he rushed out, drawing a snigger out of Thomas. (I totally didn't have to google the difference between snigger and snicker)
John smiled happily at them. "Well, I'm gonna go wash up," he told them cheerfully. Thomas nodded and waved lazily from the bed.
"See you when you're done, darlin'," he drawled calmly, not expecting John to turn red and squeak, running out of the room. Alex failed to suppress his giggles at Thomas's confused face.
"Was it something I said?" he pondered out loud.
Alex laughed again. "You've never used your accent directly on him. He might be suffering from heart failure right now. Your accent is one of the cutest things to ever exist," he explained.
Now it was Thomas's turn to blush. "Did my accent have that effect on you the first time you heard it?" he asked, wiggling his eyebrows and purposefully strengthening his Southern lilt.
Alex covered his face with one hand while flipping Thomas off with the other. "Piss off, it's not fair if you turn it on deliberately," he complained.
Thomas laughed and pressed a kiss to his tomato's forehead. "Meh, you love me," was his only reply. Alex nodded without looking up and Thomas laughed again.
