chapter 40

An hour later

Life felt like the heavy ruins on his shoulders.

Tears were stinging his cheeks.

Every minute hurt like hell as he sat in the car and held the burning male tightly, watching him trembling and whimpering in his arms. Yeonjun was trying to wake him up desperately, but to no avail, Beomgyu wasn't even blinking. He was just laying on his lap, on the passenger seat and shedding unstoppable tears. There were a bunch of fresh scars and bruises decorating his face and Yeonjun couldn't help, but cry with him bitterly. His heart wouldn't stop clenching at his miserable condition, but what hurt him the most was that had no idea of what had happened to him.

"Beomgyu, please, wake up", he begged as he shook the younger's body, causing Kai's hurt eyes to dart to them through the rearview mirror, from the driver's seat, "Please", Yeonjun sobbed as he squeezed his eyes shut for a moment and tried to overpower the deadly pain which was beating in his heart, "Please, stop hurting me"

But Beomgyu didn't respond, he just kept letting out shaky breaths and whimpering as if he was having a terrible nightmare. It was throwing arrows into Yeonjun's heart and making him bleed from inside.

"What did they do to you, baby?", he cried desperately as his fingers pushed the younger's bangs aside, gently wiping his small tears afterwards, but the fresh ones wouldn't stop flowing down Beomgyu's flushed cheeks.

"Why is he crying?", Yeonjun sobbed heavily as he pressed Beomgyu's body against his chest and closed his eyes, letting hot beads of tears fall down his soaked face, "Why is he crying?"

"Who the hell are you?", Renjun growled as soon as he saw Yeonjun and Kai breaking down the door of the building and invading the living room. He took a step towards them and his eyes turned into a yellow colour, but Renjun froze in his place when he saw how Yeonjun converted his orbs into mad red.

"Where is Beomgyu?", the blue-haired alpha growled through his teeth and marched towards him with dangerously slow steps, his fist clenching on his side.

Cold sweat started forming on Renjun's forehead as he walked backwards and left his anxious eyes glued to Yeonjun, observing his movements carefully. However, he fell on the sofa as soon as his knees met the edge of the furniture which made him lose his balance.

On the other side, Kai decided it was a good idea not to lose more time and ran upstairs to look for his friend while Yeonjun kept glaring down at the male with deadly eyes and growling at him, "Where is Beomgyu?!", he asked in a warning tone again and grabbed older's throat as he hovered over him like a furious beast.

Renjun kept shaking, but he still wasn't daring to utter a word, knowing Namjoon would kill him if Yeonjun managed to take Beomgyu. However, it wasn't like he had a chance against the alpha and could do anything to stop him. In that situation, Namjoon was obviously less dangerous than the furious alpha in front of him.

Yeonjun raised up his hand to hit him when he got fed up with his silence, but then he heard Kai screaming from upstairs, grabbing his attention and causing his eyes to snap to the first floor above.

"Hyung", Kai kept calling in a nervous tone, "Hyung, I found him"

Hearing those words, Yeonjun's eyes grew wide like plates. He didn't even think twice and dashed to the stairs, running up at a speed of light and rushing towards the direction where Kai's voice was coming from. After he entered the room, he was greeted by the heartbreaking sight of Beomgyu laying unconscious on the ground and shaking uncontrollably, his head rested in Kai's lap who was sitting on his knees at his body. The youngest was trying to wake him up as he was tapping his cheek, but Beomgyu was just quivering and sweating horribly, not even moving an eye.
