Another night had come. Another dark blanket over the upper atmosphere. It was raining outside again, heavy raindrops falling from the sky and slamming against the window panes of Soobin's room. The boy was laying on his bed, curled up into a ball as he listened to the rain and the mourning howls of the alpha werewolf coming from the distance. They were piercing, throwing arrows into his chest. There wasn't even a cure in the world which could heal those wounds in his heart.
The ground had already gotten extremely wet and dirty from so much water pouring on it. The flowers on Beomgyu's grave would probably be drenched in water too. It hurt to think that the boy might have been cold in that freezing ground, or maybe he was scared of being alone there. Soobin was actually annoyed at his brother because Taehyun didn't attend the funeral. He was still keeping to act like nothing had happened at all. Only if Soobin knew that his brother wasn't just strong enough to watch his love being put in the ground and disappear as if he had never even existed. It would be a deadly pain to his heart.
Soobin would never manage to forget how Yeonjun was talking to the boy and kissing him a few hours ago when Beomgyu's body was rested beside the hole with a casket. Yeonjun didn't cry on that day, he was just patting Beomgyu's hair and smiling at him which was making Soobin think if that fake, sad smile hurt more than his cries. Yeonjun hadn't appeared ever since the funeral was over. No one knew where he had gone, but now they all could hear his heartbreaking howls which kept deafening the atmosphere for maybe half an hour. Soobin walked downstairs to wait for Yeonjun's arrival in the hall, but even after an hour of waiting, Yeonjun hadn't returned. Soobin came to realisation only after he heard a little noise coming from the backyard and he figured out that Yeonjun might have been there.
Fortunately, it was no longer raining cats and dogs, so he managed to stay dry after he put on his jacket and walked outside.
The ground made squishing sounds when his feet kept making contact with the mud underneath them, his shoulders raising and his muscles tightening when he felt a cold breeze flowing under his clothes. His eyes landed on the figure in the distance and Soobin's heart clenched when he made out a big grey wolf sprawled on the grave. He had never seen Yeonjun in that form before, so he was a bit nervous as he approached him with slow steps.
The sky was sunk in the deadly darkness, but Soobin and Yeonjun could still perfectly see each other since the lights in the backyard were on. Not caring that the ground was muddy and wet, Soobin stood with his knees on the grave beside Yeonjun's body, making the latter's sad eyes fix on him as he breathed rapidly.
Yeonjun shut his eyes as soon as Soobin's hand touched his head between his ears, causing a heap of emotions to form inside him. He was met with the younger's gentle smile as soon as his now glossy eyes fluttered open, gazing into Soobin's caring ones and Soobin even hallucinated that they were screaming at him for help.
"I know, hyung", Soobin said in a low voice, "I know that your pain is more severe than ours, but I'm here for you. I will always be beside you to accompany you in the hardest times of your life"
The boy now touched the older's paw, gently caressing it with his thumb. He couldn't even put in words how much pain he felt when he saw that a single tear was rolling down from the werewolf's eye, moistening his fluffy fur underneath it.
Yeonjun was already wheezing as if something was stuck in his windpipe. His breaths were too rapid which made the younger worried about him. He laid down on the muddy ground facing his love, his hand raising up to gently scratch the back of his ears to somehow soothe him, knowing wolves used to like it when they were being touched like that.
Yeonjun closed his eyes again at that and tried to calm his breaths. It was hard though when he had his loved one laying under the ground he was resting on. He'd been trying really hard, but it was impossible to be stronger than his pain and emotions because he still wasn't used to the idea that Beomgyu was gone. Now all his childhood or other memories with him were the remains of the past. Beomgyu was no longer anything more than a shadow which was painting Yeonjun's life in dark colours and poisoning him.
