My eyes fluttered open as I woke up from my sleep. I yawned as I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. I looked around at my surroundings as I tried to remember where I was. Faint memories of last night came back to me. A chill went down my spine as remembered how close to death I had come. And then a strange feeling of comfort when I remembered the strange person I kinda met when I fell out of the tree. Their piercing purple eyes and the particles that remained after they teleported away flooded back into my memory.
"What an odd fellow." I smile slightly as I say this to myself, the positive memory of the stranger sticking in my mind not likely to be forgotten anytime soon.
I decided to climb the tree higher and look around to see if I can spot somewhere to go. Once I got near the top of the tree I decided to look around. Luckily for me the tree I slept in was taller than most of the other trees so I could look over the landscape without much issue. It didn't take long for me to spot what I assumed was a village. All I needed to do to get there was cross a river... the same river I crossed last night, just my luck.
It didn't take me long to decide that I was not going to head toward the village. There were two main reasons why. Reason number one, that river had water in it and I was not going to risk my life crossing it again. Reason number two: whatever was chasing me last night is probably still on that side of the river so even if I managed to cross it alive that thing will probably be waiting for me at the village.
I sighed "Well I guess I'm not going to be in a village anytime soon." I started looking around some more trying to find the best way for me to start walking. I decided to go to the left of the rising sun because I would be walking in the opposite direction of the thing that was chasing me, but I would still be walking away from the river. I smiled to myself, proud of how fast I came up with a solution. I just hoped that I would remember the direction I was heading in.
It took me a little longer to climb down the tree than it did to climb up it but I managed. Once I did get down I glanced at where the strange person was standing last night as if they would be there again. I kinda wished they would be, maybe I would get some answers on what they were. But they weren't so I had to wait for another time to get the answers I wanted. So until then, I would start walking.
