*~ Nightmares ~*

I was running through an oak forest barely paying attention to my surroundings as I did so. It's not like I cared if a few branches or thorns stabbed me. I just needed to get away from that thing. How did it even find me again? I have been walking away from it for a little over a month now. And since when was I in an oak forest? I'm sure I was in a massive evergreen forest not too long ago and I had been walking in it for a few days so I don't think I could have backtracked into an oak one if I tried.

I was snapped out of my thoughts by the sudden jolt of hitting the ground. I really need to pay more attention to my surroundings when I'm running for my life. I pushed myself off the ground slightly and looked behind me to check how close that thing was.

"Oh," Was all I could say when I noticed that the thing was only a little over three meters away from me. Its smile stared right through me as it slowly approached, taking its sweet, sweet time as if it enjoys watching me suffer. I quickly turned around and stood up quite clumsily and continued running. I don't know what that thing will do to me if it catches me but I'm not sure I want to find out.

As I ran small tears started to roll down my cheeks burning my face as they did so. I knew I couldn't keep running for much longer. I wiped the tears from my face using the sleeve of my sweater. '

And once I did that I noticed the river I was straight towards. I slowed down and came to a stop as I looked at the deadly liquid that flowed by. And then I looked back at the thing that was chasing me it almost looked like its smile grew when it saw the predicament I was in.

"ℸ ̣ ⍑ᒷ∷ᒷ ╎ᓭ リ𝙹 ∴⍑ᒷ∷ᒷ ℸ ̣ 𝙹 ∷⚍リ ∷ᔑリʖ𝙹𝙹" It spoke a familiar language, although I couldn't quite make out what it said.

"⋮⚍ᓭℸ ̣ ᓵ𝙹ᒲᒷ ∴╎ℸ ̣ ⍑ ᒲᒷ ᔑリ↸ ℸ ̣ ⍑╎ᓭ リ╎⊣⍑ℸ ̣ ᒲᔑ∷ᒷ ||𝙹⚍ !¡⚍ℸ ̣ ||𝙹⚍∷ᓭᒷꖎ⎓ ╎リ ∴╎ꖎꖎ ʖᒷ 𝙹⍊ᒷ∷ ᓭ𝙹𝙹リᒷ∷" It looked slightly annoyed when it said this, kinda like it thought I was only running away to piss it off and make its life harder.

I looked back at the river taking notice of the fact that it looked quite deep and that the water in it was moving quite fast. I won't let it have the satisfaction of catching me. I braced myself because I know what I'm about to do will hurt a lot. Then I ran towards the river and jumped knowing that there was no going back now.

I jolted awake panting and gasping for air. I was on the verge of tears and terrified of something that wasn't there. I tried to slow my breathing and leaned back on the trunk of the tree I was in. I closed my eyes and let out a sigh.

"It was just a nightmare," I whispered to myself.

"Another stupid nightmare." I let out a sigh as I opened my eyes. I started having nightmares after about a week of me walking. Now I usually have them two or three times a week.

I started to think about my nightmare. The thing said something to me, I think that the first time it spoke to me. I didn't even know it could speak. What did it even say? I'm sure if I thought about it long enough I would figure it out. So that's exactly what I was going to do.

(I'm too lazy to write down Ranboo's thought processes so here's a time skip)

I have been able to figure out what the first thing it said was. It said "There is nowhere to run Ranboo," I think it was talking to me seeing as I was the only person there. Does that mean my name is Ranboo? The name itself sounds quite familiar so it probably is. It also was pretty nice sounding, so even if it's not my real name I would still enjoy being called that.

I decided to write it down so I wouldn't forget it. I pulled out my memory book and opened it to the first page. I had already written on it so I decided to write on the back of the cover of the book. I wrote down "My name is Ranboo."

"Well, that's one mystery about myself solved," I smiled while saying this. I'm glad I now know my name. I closed my memory book and put it back in my bag. I would try and figure out what else the thing had said but I had forgotten it while trying to figure out the first thing it said.

Not having anything better to do I grabbed my book and opened it so I could read it again. I have already read the book multiple times, but I was still quite fond of it. It told the story of a soldier who fought in The Great Dreamon War.

Normally if I read something like this I would think that it was completely fictional. Except the way the author describes the dreamons is familiar. It's very similar to how the thing that was chasing me looked. The main difference is that the dreamons in the book didn't have the smile and they can't really have physical forms in our world, unlike Smiles.

I laughed a little at the nickname I gave to the thing that had been chasing me. I decided that I had done enough thinking and I started to read the book.

I had been reading for a few hours and I had gotten tired again so I closed my book and put it back into my bag. I looked up at the sky and admired the stars that twinkled overhead. They could never get old. I listened to the soft sounds of the night and started to drift to sleep...

That was until I heard an odd sound, a sound that I'm sure that I've heard before but I couldn't quite remember where. I looked around a little and spotted a tall dark figure standing in the distance.

As if they knew that I was staring at them they turned around and met my gaze. Memories flooded back to me of the time I fell out of a tree and met someone that looked similar to the person I was staring at now.

If it were daytime I would run up to them and try to ask them as many questions as I could before they teleported off or something like that. But it isn't day and I'm not in the mood to fight a bunch of mobs only for a small chance to talk to someone I don't even know.

The best chance I had to answer any of my questions was to just remember what they look like and ask someone if they know anything about them. That probably wouldn't even happen if I could even remember what they look like, because where would I find someone to ask questions? I have been walking for a month and the only thing anywhere close to me finding some people was me finding the old abandoned house from a while back.

I sighed in defeat as I looked back down at my lap. Then I had an amazing idea, I could draw what they looked like in my memory book. I pulled the book back out of my bag and looked back up at where the stranger was standing, thankfully they were close to where they were before.

I looked at them, examining them so I could draw what they looked like. Then I looked back down at my memory book and started drawing them. (The sketch Ranboo made is at the top of the chapter)

It didn't take much time to finish the drawing. Which was really nice because I was very tired and needed some sleep. I closed my memory book and put it back in my bag. I adjusted myself slightly on the branch I was sitting in, trying and failing to get more comfortable. I sighed and closed my eyes and I soon fell into a dreamless sleep.
