- Ranboo's POV -

I awoke with a groan and sat up. My eyes were still blurry with sleep as I yawned. I rubbed them to try and clear my vision. I slowly blinked open my eyes and started to look around. I was surrounded by the familiar oak trees of my nightmares.

"Okay, that's a little odd." I slowly got up and looked around. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary, it was just a normal oak forest. Nothing scary or bad about it, it's just a normal forest with no smiling murderous shadow blobs.

I decided I could just listen to the sounds of the forest to calm down because even though this was very clearly the forest that I always ran through in my nightmares, there was no denying that. I could still probably calm down and try to figure out what's going on. But there was a small problem with my plan, there were no noises...

It was completely silent...

It was terrifying, there should be some sort of noise, anything really. The rustle of leaves as the wind blows through them or the soft crunch of leaves from animals walking around, heck, I would even take the sound of a sizzling creeper that's about to explode, but there was just nothing. I started to walk through the forest to try and drown out the deafening silence with my footsteps. It didn't work too well, but I didn't know what else to do so I just kept walking.

Then I heard a second much louder pair of footsteps somewhere near me. I froze and tried to listen to where the footsteps were coming from. And when that didn't work I started to look around to see if I could spot what was making them. I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary so I just froze again, hoping, praying that the creature that was making those noises didn't notice me, and if it did, then that it wouldn't want to hurt me.

I stood for what felt like hours listening to the footsteps, trying to figure out which direction they were coming from. Then got faster and they started to get louder, it sounded like the creature was running towards me. I did a quick scan of the area around me to check if I could see the creature, and I couldn't.

I decided I'd rather risk running directly into the monster than just standing there doing nothing. So I picked a random direction and ran as fast as I possibly could. Whatever was making the footsteps probably noticed me running because they managed to get even faster.

The footsteps slowly got louder and louder and they sounded like they were getting closer and closer. It sounded like the footsteps were right behind me. I turned to look behind me to see if I could catch a glimpse of what the creature looked like, but I didn't see anything.

I turned back so I could look where I was going. I saw it but I had no time to react, I ran face-first into a tree branch. When I fell it felt like I was in slow motion, my perspective of the forest changed as I fell backward. A dull pain covered my face where I collided with the rogue tree branch. Then a much sharper pain at the back of my head woke me up.

I was back in the position I had fallen asleep in. When did I even fall asleep? I was hyperventilating and it felt like someone was watching me so I quickly turned around to look behind me...

But no one was there...

The nightmare I just had was the strangest one I can remember and it also scared me more than any other nightmare I remember ever having. At least it wasn't completely silent in the cave. There was the soft crackle of the campfire and the soft snores coming from Technoblade, who was sleeping in front of me.

Wait, didn't Techno want me to do something when I woke up? I think so. Yeah, yeah they did, but what was it they wanted me to do. God, having memory loss sucks.
