*~  Shelter ~*

- Techno's POV -

It had been about ten to fifteen minutes since I had found this stranger that I was now carrying around and he still hasn't died somehow. Which was very surprising considering everything about this situation. Speaking of, why was I still even out here? I probably could've found or made shelter by now.

Why didn't I do something about shelter sooner and decide to wait till now? The sun is starting to set and it's going to get much more dangerous out here soon. The snow is piling higher and higher, I can barely see ten feet in front of me, and once it becomes night the mobs will emerge and make this even worse.

Why am I still out here? Why didn't I make a shelter when the storm started? Why did the voices want me to help a total stranger? I have so many questions for myself, and I can't answer any of them.

This entire situation shouldn't have happened, but it did somehow. And now I just gotta focus on finding a place to rest. Which will be difficult considering the fact that I can barely see and it feels like the storm is only getting worse.

I continued walking until I came across what looked like a mountain, or at least a really big hill. I decided to walk around it to see if I could find a cave to stay in. After about five or so minutes of looking, I found one. I smiled to myself thanks to this discovery.

I walked inside of it and set the stranger down. Then I opened my inventory and I grabbed my torches. I started placing some of them down in the area I was going to make camp in. Once I was done with that I grabbed some wooden planks from my inventory and blocked off the entrance to the cave. Then I walked toward the back and blocked off the rest of the cave system.

Once I was done with blocking off part of the cave I walked towards the middle of the area I had lit up, opened my inventory, and I grabbed some more wooden planks. I placed then in the position they needed to be in and lit the campfire. I walked over to where I had put down the stranger, picked him up, and walked back over to the campfire setting him back down.

I took a few steps away from the stranger and then sat down. Once I was on the ground I took off the backpack I had been wearing and opened it. I started digging through it, looking for things I could use to help him.

I pulled out a sleeping bag, a couple of blankets, and some food. The sleeping bag was too small for the stranger so I wasn't going to put him in it. I just laid out the sleeping bag next to him and put him on top of it. That's when I noticed he had a bag on. I was curious so I took the bag off of him and set it down next to mine.

Once I was done removing the bag I covered him up with blankets, and I put my cape over the blankets. Once I was done with that, I grabbed the food I planned on giving to him and set it down next to him. The food I had chosen was some bread, an apple, and some chicken.

Once I was done with that I turned over to the stranger's bag. I walked over to it and sat down. I then grabbed the bag and I opened it.

I was nothing but confused when I noticed that there were only two books in the bag and nothing else. Then I thought to myself that maybe the guy lived nearby and wouldn't have needed to hall around a bunch of supplies. Then I thought about it some more and now this makes even less sense because if this guy lived nearby then he should have made it back to his house before the snowstorm got this bad.

As I sat there slightly confused I got the idea to read the books to see if they would give me any clues about this guy's story. I grabbed the books from the bag and examined them. The one that grabbed my attention was old and tattered, its cover had an image of some floating islands, some very familiar floating islands.

"Ah the good ole days, oh how I miss almost dying on a daily basis." I let out a small chuckle.

"I can't believe that was so long ago. It's been what 25, 30 years since the war ended." I open the old book and flip through its pages, stopping to read some parts of the text occasionally. It was in Ender so I'm glad I picked up that language a while ago. The book looks like it's a narrative, I don't know if it's fictional or not and I don't care.

I close the book and put it back in the bag. I then grab the other book, its cover is made of leather and there is a simple tie keeping it closed. (I don't know how to describe it) I undo the tie and open the book to the cover page. The writing looks handwritten and not printed like the other book. This was also in Ender, which wasn't really that surprising.

I noticed that there was some writing on the back of the cover, it wrote 'My name is Ranboo." That's odd, I wonder why that's there? I turned my gaze to the first page of the book and start to read.

Once I was finished reading the first page I looked back up and stared at the campfire trying to process what I just read. I originally looked through this guy's bag so I could look for some answer to my questions about him but now I'm just more confused. And I don't know if this guy actually went through this or if he's writing this for fun. Either way, I was curious so I decided to read more.

1018 Words: I'm so sorry this took me so long to write. My sleep schedule flipped and I couldn't write during the time I would usually write so I didn't want to write at all. Also, the sun is very judgemental, so I'm glad I'm becoming nocturnal again.
